He is speaking respectfully of Obama.

I am sad to say that he has chosen to go the route he has with his campaign.

18. McCain has come on The Daily Show several times....
He does have a sense of humor. But when you face him in a competitive arena, McCain becomes vicious as he has shown through this campaign.

dinner. It is a night of funny speeches and a fundraiser.

23. And yet he's proud of the the people who scream racist threatening remarks at his rallies.
He allows robocalls calling Obama a terrorist. He is endorsing the GOP strategy of trying to stifle voter turnout.

These are the things he DID. They speak more of him than what he SAYS.

27. McShame is attempting to
sneak his favorables up by playing good cop as much as possible while his "women" and cronies run a campaign that makes Rove at least simulate shame.

McCain is a piece of stinking garbage that doesn't deserve the grace of association with Bush. He is more Cheney with a lobotomy but minus any goal but winning, so that he wins.

29. John Mccain does a comedian impersonation while his Legion is spreading hate and
lies. His jokes were personal, varied little from his stump speech and the snarling, snickering Mccain we saw at the debate was very much simmering below the surface tonight.

He has NO humanity.

30. If he would have campaigned as "this guy" who's on Rachel right now..
he may have still lost, but it would have been a hell of a closer race, and he still would have had a good reputation going out of it. Sadly, he didn't choose that road. :(

33. typical republican. Filthy ROBO calls going on as he speaks, and he pretends to be above it all.
That's the Rovian way.. channeling Lee Atwater. Let the campaign be the filthy pigs, and let the candidate seem like he's above it all.

HIS name is ON those terrorist robo calls and those filthy ads, and those attacks in the rallies. He can't have it both ways.

Fuck him.

34. The John McCain of 2000, for whom I had respect,
would have made this a close race. Something evil inside him decided that it was more important to suck up to everything he had stood against rather than be true to himself. It's a classic Greek tragedy. Grampy was consumed by his evil self, which killed off his better self. I don't feel sorry for him one bit. He gave in to his evil angels and they consumed him. Hubris and power-hunger. What a shame.

35. If McCain really was
a decent human being he would pull those Robo calls. They are sleazy and false.

Since he isn't disavowing these calls then I can only believe that his humorous and respectful performance tonight was nothing more than just a performance. His legacy hangs in the balance. He can win or lose this with dignity or win or lose it in disgrace. looks like he'll go down ugly.

40 years of service to the country and he will trash it all on ugly. Pretty pathetic and sad.
