I think this is the Gallup poll most of us are use too. It's the registered voter poll which is probably the most popular daily tracking poll in the country.
About a week or so ago, Gallup began publishing several election "models."
The likely voters model is the polling outcome based on voting patterns from 2004.
The expanded likely voters model is the polling outcome based on what Gallup believes will be the voting pattern in 2008. (new voters, heavy black turnout, etc.)
Tonight on Lou Dobbs, they showed only the 2004 likely voter scenario to create a story that the race was tightening. This can really confuse voters in that they (MSM) had used the basic registered voter model before.
Tonight Dobbs showed the new model without an explanation as to where it came from or how the results were tallied. They also didn't even mention the 2008 voter poll which Gallup believes to be the most likely scenario on November 4th.
To top it off, CNN reporters Dana Bash and Candy Crowley sat there with him, and none of them bothered to explain where this particular poll came from or why it was closer than other Gallup polls shown on the network before! WOW!
Lou Dobbs, biased reporting at its best... doesn't he belong on FOX news?
