If Joe the Plumber is a plant it might be my fault.

A couple weeks ago I posted a thread here about my encounter with a plumber I suspected of being a racist. While he wouldn't say who he was supporting in the election, he made ominous-sounding comments about "another young man who was going to bring change and the country he brought change to was Cuba."

Now I'm losing sleep over the possibility that some McCain operative saw my thread, decided that maybe plumbers were a Republican-leaning demographic, and dreamed up Joe the Plumber. Is this possible?

I keep telling myself that this is not possible but....

I think he really walked up the block to complain to Obama about planning to raise taxes, that someone at Fox News saw the story in a local newspaper and decided to publicize it, and that the McCain campaign took it from Fox News.

I think they were looking for someone just above $250k to use their usual "Democrats want to tax small businesses" talking point, and I think the guy in AK knew Palin and suggested this guy to them. It's too perfect for what they're trying to do, to have just "happened". And I highly doubt they got their little brainchild from your post...

But even if they did, Joe the Plumber is falling pretty flat among the vast majority of Americans who have very little sympathy for him.
