Our local public radio station, WHYY, just reported McMummy fans brought plungers to rally in Downingtown today in solidarity with Joe. Can't find the link, though, their website sucks.

AP reports:

"'Joe's the man!' McCain said at a rally in this Philadelphia suburb as supporters chanted 'Joe! Joe! Joe!'

'He won, and small businesses won across America,' McCain said. 'They won because the American people won't let Sen. Obama raise their taxes in a tough economy. They're not going to let him do it, my friends.'

1. Again with the "my friends." It's fascist-populist nonsense.

George Wallace certainly used it, such as here:

"This civil rights bill will wind up putting a homeowner in jail because he doesn’t sell his home to someone that some bureaucrat thinks he ought to sell it to. McCain is actually saying similar things right now. Different in specific content, but appealing to the same dark instincts in the lower middle class, the social base of all fascist movements.

The good news is that it's a terrible strategy. George Wallace and John McCain will both get trounced.
