A Quick Note On The Debate & That 'Radical Extremist' Obama
Most people seem to think that McCain's worst line or biggest mistake from last night (aside from his facial expressions, etc.) was his remark dismissing the life of the mother in the case of abortion.

I can't really argue that point, but there was another thing he said that I found to be equally ridiculous.

I'm referring to when he dismissed Obama's desire for safe nuclear power as 'extreme environmentalism'. Huh? What? I had to rewind that part 3 times just to be sure I was hearing him right (thank you DVR, I love you). In fact, I think he made a similar statement in the last debate too. I'm sure someone else must have picked up on this but I just haven't seen it yet.

At any rate, doesn't this show just how extreme and out of touch *McCain* is? How is being concerned about the safety of nuclear power/waste disposal "radical" or "extreme" in any way?

If McCain had a more specific point explaining how Obama wants excessive and cumbersome regulations that'd be one (wrong) thing, but his point was even worse.

PS---I agree with this video which argues that . Also, if you're a fan of John Cusack, Michael Moore, Rachel Maddow or Margaret Cho, .

1. I caught that too
McCain has a habit of saying that anybody who disagrees with him has a radical position. He often gets bizarre like that. He's angry, out-of-touch and cannot take a differing opinion. He's an odd person, imho. I think he believes his own mythology a little too much. Great post.

2. Yup, I heard that too...
And it was a :wtf: moment for me!

Maybe he thinks he can score points with folks who are afraid of environmentalists?

Dunno!

He's bonkers, IMHO...

:hi:

4. Thanks for this, Tom..I didn't watch the debate
so I'm getting all I can out of it via those who did.

I just saw Cenk's wrap up of the verdicts so it's really good to know those negative, lying smears of mccain's aren't working this time.

They only worked on him when bush was doing the smearing.

5. good point
I'm kinda dismayed by Obama's permissive-sounding stance on Nuclear Pollution, but McCain's is way off the deep end.

6. The second debate, he did the same thing
dismissed Obama's position as follows (from the transcript)

"Now, how -- what's -- what's the best way of fixing it? Nuclear power. Senator Obama says that it has to be safe or disposable or something like that."

Safe or disposable or something like that???? I thought my ears were deceiving me, but that's exactly what the transcript said.

7. He said so many repugnant things that I had forgotten he said that.
I'm glad you brought this up. He doesn't care about women, the environment or any of the real issues.

Another thing that got our attention, while watching, was about putting ex-military in teaching positions. That to me was a very scary thought.
