Not a licensed plumber, at best a plumber's helper, that is the term for someone who works as a plumber under a licensed plumber.

Doesn't own a plumbing business, nor does it appear he is about to buy one.

Makes nowhere near 250 K a year.

Apparently the meeting with Obama was a setup.

3. I think it will be Fox
They will use it as a way to say his fear of socialism made him lie through his teeth on television and become a national joke. That is how dangerous the threat socialism is, it makes good Americans behave like jackasses.

5. Anne Korn? from Washington Post
Andrea Mitchell asked her if, in the end, Joe would help or hurt McCain.
She told Andrea Mitchell that they are vetting him right now. She said he was much the focus lately. She said when the research is done, it could go either way with him.
They will find out.
PS Schuster is all over it now!

6. Oh, Plumber Joe, if you let the Republicans take us back to feudal economics...
You won't be able to run a plumbing business without joining the Plumbers' Guild. How would you like that--forced unionism for employers!

9. I would prefer that the issue is dropped, and Joe goes back to his life.
Both for the discourse, and for Joe himself. Whatever his issues are, I really think he should have his privacy, which I think is his, if he says "no more interviews".

10. Come on, it is too late for him to say "no mas". Clearly he must have been feeding information
about the interaction to McCain and the news media. Now his story is starting to unravel and he wants to cover his sorry ass. I am sorry but he has given up his right to privacy. As for the discourse - McCain made it the centerpiece of an attack on Obama, so Obama's supporters have the right to expose the lie.

17. i think that's the route Joe should take since the media is reporting he hasn't paid
his taxes and he has no plumbers license or even training. He's not Joe the plumber he's Joe the tax dodger. I pay my taxes joe should have to pay his or file an extension.

18. He put himself in front of Presidential candidate and LIED.......... and for that he should..
WHAT? Be given his privacy? He LIED, he misrepresented himself, then went on 4 TV stations in one morning (today) and CONTINUED to MISREPRESENT who he was, what his training and occupation is.

LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE..... now his pants are burning...all because of his own actions, words and LIES!

If he had been truthful from the beginning, he would never have had to worry about his "privacy"! Geesh!

16. NYTimes front page on the web right now comes close
Turns out that “Joe the Plumber,” as he became nationally known when Senator John McCain made him a theme at Wednesday night’s third and final presidential debate, may run a plumbing business but he is not a licensed plumber. His full name is Samuel J. Wurzelbacher. And he owes a bit in back taxes.

The premise of his question to Mr. Obama about taxes may also be flawed, according to tax analysts.

An official at Local 50 of the plumber’s union, based in Toledo, said Mr. Wurzelbacher does not hold a license. He also has never served an apprenticeship and does not belong to the union. (The national plumber’s union, the United Association of Plumbers, Steamfitters, and Service Mechanics, endorsed Mr. Obama, it should be noted.)

“He’s basically playing games with the world,” Thomas Joseph, the local’s business manager, said in a telephone interview Thursday morning.

“All contractors are licensed, and he does not have a license, either as a contractor or a plumber,” the union official said, citing a search of government records. “I can’t find that he’s ever even applied for any kind of apprenticeship, and he has never belonged to local 189 in Columbus, which is what he claims on his Facebook page.”

According to public records, Mr. Wurzelbacher has been subject to two liens, each over $1,000, one of which — a personal tax lien — is still outstanding.

And his question to Mr. Obama about paying taxes? According to some tax analysts, if Mr. Wurzelbacher’s gross receipts from his business is $250,000 — and not his taxable income — then he would not have to pay higher taxes under Mr. Obama’s plan, and probably would be eligible for a tax cut.
