Did it bother anyone else that McCain didn't say more about rallies?
His defense has been that he doesn't like the stuff that is said about him at Obama rallies...

has anyone yelled to "kill him?"

I don't think so.

And McCain is a white guy that doesn't have to worry about racism. To compare the stuff that is being said at Obama rallies to things being said at Palin rallies is absurd and shows just how out of touch he is.

He knows there is an underlying problem of racism, and he knows Palin and his campaign are playing right into that. I lost what little respect I did have for him last night.

how dare he compare the two

1. What bothers me,
is that he's categorically proud of the people who go to his rallies.

8. That was ASTONISHING to me.
Worst possible reply to what Obama had just said. I got the sense it was another rehearsed reply, but it definitely did NOT work in the context of what Obama had said.

14. You know, there's just NO WAY
Edited on Thu Oct-16-08 08:52 AM by youthere
you can defend that kind of behavior..McCain should not have even attempted it. But he went there and it backfired on him.
I love how he tried to make HIMSELF out to be the victim of the hatred and racism (especially with the T-shirts comment, and Lews'remarks)and NO one is going to buy a White, privileged Senator is the victim of racist hate, especially when he's sitting next to a black man who's had his life threatened.
Oh and did you catch the whole "military wives for McCain" and the "veterans with their hats" and how they were "The very BEST Americans and REAL patriots" schtick? Asshole.

17. Anyone else would have gone to great lengths to condemn what those people said.
Not just, "well, we repudiate those comments (on TEE VEE)"

22. I second THAT
Does that mean that he's now assumed ownership of each and every comment that comes out people's mouths at his and Palin's rallies/campaign events?

4. even Roger Simon
said "You just CAN'T defend people who scream 'kill him' at Senator Obama." And he is such a liar when he says "I always repudiate", etc. What a doink.

6. His answers on those rally questions did nothing but pander to his base.
Edited on Thu Oct-16-08 08:47 AM by bushisanidiot
the dumbass already has his base. he refuses to be a "maverick" and try to reach out to other voters other than white, racist, homophobic, repukes. he's not even interested in the more liberal side of the republican party, much less independants and is actually pushing them to Obama.

what a tool.

10. And how Obama "attacked his health care plan"
That's a policy disagreement, not a personal attack!! McCain came off as weak and emotional. Obama was smart to say things like 'we can't get our feelings hurt over everything' and 'I can take four more weeks of this BUT'...

12. McCain's health care plan is terrible, i read both and McCain doesn't seem to get
that most people without healthcare don't have 5k laying around even if they will get it back as a tax credit.

18. Yup, and where are those plans he says average $5600 or something?!?
The average cost of health insurance is WHAT again?!? For us, it's about twice that. $5,000 is a coupon.

20. My gf and I thought it was funny when he said that
So now if you run ads that break down the fallacy of another candidates' policy plans, it's an attack ad? What a whiner. Seriously Phil Gramm needs to remind McCain about the whole nation of whiners thing because Whiner #1 is on top of the GOP ticket.

He turned into "I'm hurt and insulted by Senator Obama" and ignored the rest

11. He was "offended" by Rep. Lewis' remarks
John, you'd better think of more than being offended, because your rallies are like pouring gasoline on a pile of wood chips. Just one spark and the headlines would be far different. While you whine about being "hurt" by Rep. Lewis, the real possibility of some real hurt is just one nutjob away. (Remember the church in Knoxville?) John McCain, I'm offended by your lack of priorities.
