Why did McCain reference Todd Palin last night...
When asked to speak about his VP's qualifications for the office? Aside from enjoying McCain's "spin" on how his VP choice is qualified to be President, why did he add that last second reference to the "first dude?" My wife and I both had a WTF moment with that one.

1. You're right - I'd forgotten. And what an odd thing to say -- he's a strong
guy, or something like that?

2. Also referencing Palin as a "role model for women" got a WTF from me
I have two adult daughters. If they were to look at lying, cheating, stealing etc as a way to get ahead I would not tolerate it.

4. News from Alaska
is that the 1st dude was very involved and some thought of him as a shadow-governor.

8. another link
"Todd sits in on high-level meetings," Cottle said. "He's copied on official emails. He offers counsel on a wide range of issues. He travels on state business (often at taxpayer expense). He even unofficially lobbies lawmakers and outside interest groups on matters of importance to him. But because all of this is done under the auspices of his personal rather than professional relationship with Governor Sarah, the good citizens of the state have no real sense what Todd is up to."

7. filler,
McCain had 2 minutes to explain why Sarah Palin would make a good VP. Her qualifications only took 10 seconds. McCain didn't want to let any of his time lapse.
