2. No, because Clinton had the southern states. But Obama will do quite well.

4. maybe, maybe not. In '92 Bush I carried Florida--Obama has a good shot at FL now
And of course Clinton/Gore won Ark and TN both of which will go to McCain, but Obama has a good chance at winning both Virginia and North Carolina (both of which went to Bush in '92) and have more EV than Ark and TN. Also, Clinton won GA and LA narrowly in '92, and I think Obama has an outside chance in GA, but not LA. Still if Obama wins FL, VA and NC he will get about as many southern EV as Clinton did in '92--it depends on FL.

3. I think he will. Looking at the toss up states, about 50 EV's are on the line
and if about 30 - 40 of those go to Obama that would do it.

5. 2 weeks ago, I'd have said no.
Today, I think it's possible that Obama may surpass Clinto's higher EV total from 1996, which is 379.

After "health" last night, I want him to beat McSame VERY BADLY.

PEACE!

7. The problem with Clinton's "mandate" is that popular vote wise he didn't do that great.

9. '92 was very much like 1912 when Woodrow Wilson won with about 42% of the vote
against Teddy Roosevelt and William Taft. Wilson did very well in the electoral vote becuz the GOP was split, but actually got a lower percentage of the popular vote than the previous Dem nominee, William Jennings Bryan in 1908. For instance, Dukakis got far fewer EV's than Clinton did in '92, but he got 46% of popular vote in '88.
