AP's Fact Check Sides with McCain RE: exception for woman's "health"
"OBAMA: Said he would be "completely supportive" of late-term abortion restrictions "as long as there's an exception for the mother's health and life."

THE FACTS: Obama leaves himself a lot of latitude in this answer. A woman's "health" has been so broadly interpreted that it can include conditions, including psychological conditions, that are difficult to diagnose or prove. Anti-abortion advocates say that makes the ban meaningless, because it leaves too much subjective judgment in the equation. "

1. and is it really true that 19% of the USA population makes more than
$250,000/year? I find that very hard to believe.

2. Perhaps because you're thinking of Earth years instead of Saturn years
Glad I could clear that up for you.

3. So that means that without the exceptions for a woman's health...
They'll just let women die. Sounds like the very, very old days.

5. ...and why should we take the word of un-named anti-abortion advaocates as truth
Liars for Jesus: They'll say anything to advance their cause.

6. I don't think anyone has disagreed that "health" can be widely interpreted
but it was McCain's incredibly dismissive attitude that was significant and worth remarking on. The "health" of the mother DOES matter.

7. That's what I reacted to. I was livid when I heard that.
Just a "who gives a fuck about the health of the mother" from Smirky McCain. Disgusting and shameful.

8. OK McCain - provide your definition
'cause until you do, I'll have to assume that you'd force me to carry a life threatening pregnancy.

fyi - I survived a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. Mind you, I bled out about 2 litters of blood and my heart had to be restarted twice on the operating table, and the total time elapse between my rupture and being prepped and ready to go in the operating table was less than 30 minutes, but I did survive.

So since it is theoretically possible to survive an ectopic pregnancy, I guess it's only "health" threatening?

Again, until I hear differently, McAirQuotes, that's what I assume you mean.

9. The AP has become a RW shill of late.
It is not surprising that they are coming out for McCain. They've never been fair.

10. So what?
It plays poorly, and I'm glad there are numerous exceptions. Is mental healkth not really an important health issue? Is that what this article is implying? How many women have 'faked" mental health problems for the purpose of obtaining a late-term abortion? Is there even ONE on record having done so?

This is just stupid, as are the anti-choice radicals. And people know it. America is pro-choice.

11. Yeah those phony baloney "psychological conditions" should not be
a valid reason for abortion.

:sarcasm:

Andrea Yates, anyone?
