I wrote this on my blog and wanted to share:
McCain's latest campaign byte, is not just more of the same but also a perfect backfire on the man who claims to be looking out for the middle class.
"Joe the plumber" is a man Obama met on the campaign trail. Joe questioned Obama about his new tax plan since Obama is offering everyone who makes under $250,000 a year a tax break, while anyone making over that will see increased taxes. This is part of Obama's new economic plan to reduce taxes on 95% of americans and finally have the wealthiest of wealthy contribute more to this country.
Here is the video of Obama talking to Joe the plumber:

Joe has a problem with this plan (As I'm sure do most wealthy), but you know what...SCREW YOU JOE! It's about time that the other 95% of americans who can't afford to heat their home, pay their mortgages, send their kids to school or even buy groceries and pay for gas, it's about time these people get a break. How dare you or anyone else making over a quarter of a million dollars a year, bitch about paying a little more in taxes while the majority of americans struggle to keep the basics such as shelter, food and health care.
This has been the republican mantra for too long and one of the main reasons I will forever remain a democrat. The GOP has a never ending subscription to the idea of the "trickle down effect", simply put: give tax breaks to the wealthy and let the savings trickle down to the poor. They defend this disgusting idea by saying what's good for the rich will end up being good for the poor in the way of new jobs being offered.
Switch over the the democratic ideals for economy that suggest if the poor people are given a tax break and are able to build up their assets then they will in turn have more money to spend on the business of the wealthy, making the rich richer. Then the wealthy can take that profit they gain from an increase in commerce and use it to create new jobs.
WIN WIN
McCain and the GOP call it "Spreading around the wealth" SO the fuck what if we are? What is wrong with that? McCain criticized Obama saying that he would be essentially taking more of Joe's own money and spreading it around to the poor, when it should be up to Joe how to distribute his own money.
Well McCain has a point, but not much of one. Ideally people should be entitled to keep what they earn and build up their wealth, but realistically how much wealth does one need?
I have always been one of the thought process that no one should have more money then they can spend. The wealthy have a tendency to get greedy and hoard their wealth, as well as engage in unethical and indecent actions to obtain more money. Rich CEO's and heads of major corporations are often paid an inflated salary for doing so much less then the average day laborer. They spend this money on the most frivolous of things and then attempt to hide some of their massive wealth in off shore accounts.
And these people, the 5% of Americans, the wealthiest of people seriously are bitching about the idea of paying an increase in taxes in order for the other 95% of us to actually continue to live a moderate to menial lifestyle.
I'm sorry Mr. CEO that this tax increase means you can't fly your jet to europe as often as you'd like, but the other 95% of americans would really like to keep their homes and buy silly things like food and clothes. I really feel for ya, Head of a major financial institution, that this tax increase will limit how many $500 pairs of shoes your wife can buy this month, but the other 95% of us would really like to keep paying for our kids tuition and making sure the house is heated when they come home for christmas break.
Ok, Sarcasm break over....
But in fairness, I do understand the need for wealthy business owners to accumulate more money then the average joe, so that they can afford to pay for their employees and upkeep on their businesses. And of course those who have worked hard and accomplished wealth deserve to have some fun and buy expensive toys, but it is rarely that simple. Quite often these wealthy business owners are cutting corners and short changing their employees in order to fatten their own pocketbook. Wealth is a powerful enticing thing that leads most down a path of greed and excess, while their workers (who are the life blood of the company) get the short end of the stick.
American needs to work in balance of one another, we can't have the minority monopolizing the wealth while their fellow americans starve, lose their homes and go broke due to an unexpected health issue.
The Trickle down effect is flawed, because Humans are flawed. Money just like power corrupts and we as Americans can't sit patiently and wait for the wealthy to do the right thing and fairly compensate their employees for their hard work. Large businesses would be nothing without their work force and it is unfair for the heads of these companies to sit on their ass all day collecting a fat paycheck, while their employees work their asses off for minimum wage.
McCain says, with more money the rich can create more jobs, but is that really how most wealthy companies use their extra profits? No, most of the time, they give their head honcho's fat bonuses, then mislead their employees to how the business is "not doing well" which leads to a "job freeze" leaving all their employees to pick up the slack and not get paid accordingly.
It's time for a change, time for the middle and lower class to catch a break and time for the wealthy to loosen their purse strings and give more back to this great country and her citizens.
So again "Joe the plumber" STFU!!! You greedy bastard, do your patriotic duty and pay your country back for giving you a place where you have the freedom, opportunity and right to pursue your happiness and goals and hopefully in doing so you will give your fellow americans the chance to become more financially stable so that they are free to pursue their own goals and dreams.
BTW, It has come to my attention that Joe the plumber is not who he claims to be. He's already been found to not even be registered to vote (very patriotic of him) as well as potentially having close family ties to Charles Keating and is a big Republican donor. Also looks like he is not just Joe the Plumber but instead owns multiple companies in Ohio. And on the other hand tells Katie Couric that he makes much less than $250k so would actually be paying less in taxes under Obama but he is still "scared" because what if Obama tries to raise taxes on his lower income some day.
Joe has been making the press circuit as of late and has become a GOP darling and the center talking point for the "new" McCain campaign attacks. He's nothing but a fraud and I hope he is exposed as we now enter "Plumbergate" 2008
