One Thing That Irks Me - Obama Won This Debate On Points, Not McCain
I always hear this weird description that McCain won the debate on points. What the hell does this mean? All McCain talked about was Joe, the $300,000 a year plumber and smears. McCain misrepresented Obama's positions and mistated facts on most factchecks. Heck, McCain even mistook the Supreme Court justice Obama voted against as Breyer. In other words, Obama was far more accurate, than McCain. Also, Obama offered far more detail on the workings of his policies, as well as criticisms of McCain's proposals. In other words, McCain might have had Joe the Plumber for style points, but Obama clearly won this debate on points.

So, any claim that McCain won on "points" is total bullshit.

1. I've been monitoring MSM reaction and most have given the debate to Obama
whether points, KO, or any other metric. Obama was the clear victor among pundits, polls, and focus groups.

2. This topic is unnecessary...
Did you look at any of the polling that came out of CNN after the debate? The only people who thought that McCain won are Bush supporters and right-wing pundits, the latter of which are just getting paid to say that he won so that the media can have its precious horse race.

4. Yup, the percentage that thought McCain won almost match exactly his base on any polling.
So, McCain didn't do anything but fire up his base.

You can't win an election just appealing to your base. You must appeal to enough of the other person's base AND Moderates/Independents.

Obama gets those Moderates and Independents. He's got this.

3. McCain sunk himself tonight no matter how many extra points they might give him really.

5. The whole "points" system seems to have nothing to do with facts or accuracy.
I'm not sure I understand what the fuck they are talking about, but the points seem to be based on how rabidly one asserts one's "talking points".

The MSM point system seems to have nothing to do with any sort of factual accuracy of said talking points, just the rabidity with which they are delivered.

Maybe the points are measured by mouth breathing border-line retard reactions to debate points?

I have no idea.

And the laughing assertion that a plumber making 275k a year being "deemed" rich, as if the vast majority of Americans are going to find the idea of someone making 275k a year being deemed rich would seem absurd... maybe McCain should talk to Cindy about handing out some houses to the American public so they won't be so petulant about the 275k/year people being called middle class...

Maybe Charlie Gibson can elucidate the 275k a year middle class values to the rest of us...

6. Exactly -The McCain Apologists Will Say Obama Did Better, But...
McCain won one points. Huh? Are the factual points? Are these style points? It is an assertion without explanation.

If the points refer to facts, then Obama kicked McCain's ass, because McCain was screwing up basic facts throughout the debate.
