Did I hear McCain say Obama voted against Breyer for SCOTUS?
Edited on Thu Oct-16-08 12:13 AM by Hailtothechimp
This would be a pretty mean trick, since Obama was not even in elected politics when Breyer was nominated by Bill Clinton in 1994.

Do we just expect McCain to misspeak this way? I didn't hear anyone bring this up after the debate.

1. I heard it, and he said it twice
He probably meant Alito, but if he doesn't know his Breyer from his Alito...

3. Yeah, I noticed that too.
The soft bias of low expectations, I guess.

4. My husband yelled when he heard that.
No one brought it up after the debate. I don't think anyone brought up the autism gaffe either, but I could be mistaken.

I hope Obama pounces on some of these mistakes in campaign appearances over the next few days.

5. McCain said TONS of questionable things tonight.
He referred to education as the Civil Rights Movement of the 21st century and indicated that he wanted a program called 'Troops for Teachers' to allow former service people the ability to teach without having to take state certification tests. I just can't believe McCain has held public office for so long.

8. Troops for teachers sounds like a really dumb idea.
One of our nearby cities had a teacher shortage a few years ago. They tried to get people from other professions to come in and teach. In some cases, it worked out. In most cases, the people were lost and unable to do the job at all. The professionals had enough to do in their own classrooms without holding the hands of a lot of unqualified people.

Is that what McCain is going to do to help our veterans? They aren't getting their health care. They can't find jobs. They are going homeless and sleeping on the streets. Now he is going to turn them into teachers? Go ask them what they need, McCain. It isn't a classroom full of students waiting to pounce on an unprepared instructor.

This sounds like Joe the Plumber all over again. Joe doesn't seem to have a license to be a plumber. He sounds like one of those unlicensed contractors who messes up a job and leaves an unsuspecting homeowner or business owner with a mess and no way to fix it.

Give us real teachers. Give our veterans the real help they need. Get us out of Iraq so we won't have any more damaged soldiers.

On the other hand, McCain, don't give us anything. Go home after November 4th and let Obama be the real President we need to begin fixing the messes your guys have left behind.

6. McCain is losing it

Getting the Palin kid's disease wrong...mis-naming people...getting shit out of line. Had the debate lasted another 20 minutes McCain's head probably would have flown off.

7. Yes, indeed you did...
And I turned to Mrs. GainesT and said: "Waaaaait a minute! Breyer was a CLINTON appointee! How could Obama have managed a vote on him in the Senate in 1994!?":eyes:

Talk about McCain projecting...

B-)
