Fineman: "Obama picks McCain apart like the Cosntitutional lawyer he is"
Edited on Wed Oct-15-08 11:49 PM by oviedodem
You know folks, here is the bottom line. It think the Clinton's did this and the McCain camp did this:

They thought that Obama was stupid.

I think this is the crux of the issue, Obama is so f*****g smart to the point that both Clinton and McCain had no idea how to deal with him. Maybe they thought that he was inherently dumb or out of touch, maybe they thought he was not "politically" smart. Obama has changed the way campaigns can be run, he has run a message disciplined campaign, and a trouble free one.

Maybe it is race, maybe it is youth, or maybe it is outright ego, but you know what they lost or are losing because people constantly underestimate "The smartest mfer in the room" - John Stewart

7. I think the problem with that
is they definitely are equals, but Hillary might not have realized that until he blasted out 11 wins in a row last February. They had a tough battle, for sure.

But I never thought McCain posed the problems Hillary did for him. He beat Hillary Clinton in a Dem primary, do you think he was all that worried about McCain? I doubt it. He knew he'd be in a fight, but he knew if he could take somebody as formidable as Hillary on her ground that he could beat McCain.

11. Obama could beat mccain
in fair playing field but he also had to factor in the corporate media, the unrelenting lies, smears, and hate from mccain and mccain's toads.

I wonder if Obama Team had any kind of heads up about how hate filled mccain would be?

And, palin was something they had to scramble to adjust to after the convention..oy.

Obama's team had those primary rules wired.

16. Obama's team has completely redefined campaigning
Text messaging, sending viral false emails to them and they produce a response in an hour or less. He uses technology to his advantage while McCain is still figuring out the telegraph. This was a brilliant strategy. He had an incredibly large grassroots movement. He leveraged the strength of community organizing. He brought everything to his campaign that others overlooked or belittled. This is why diversity works. This is why businesses embrace diversity (the good ones). It gives people, institutions, corporations etc new perspectives, ideas and approaches. This is truly an American advantage at home and in the global marketplace. Our diversity can work for us as a country. We just need to be open to it. We really can find solutions.

13. I agree, but her message got out of whack. I think that had to do with Obama's
message discipline, cool demeanor, and smart attacks. Just threw her campaign totally for a loop

14. Even if she is, she made a fatal mistake
Obama has complete control over every aspect of his campaign. Clinton's campaign was a complete mess that she had absolutely no control over.

4. Absolutely. If anyone learns anything from the '92, '00 and '04 campaigns, it's this:
Underestimation kills.

6. It's because he's younger and the newer person
He's not supposed to be that cool and savvy. I think some people mistake him as being an empty headed type, who has looks and a persona, when, he's a freaking genius. The guy is highly skilled.

10. When did John Stewart say this?
Was it on today's show or is there a link to it somewhere? I love it.

15. Not stupid, but there are people who mistake
kindness, gentleness and calmness with weakness. That is shortsighted on their part. These virtues are strengths.
