Wow. Unbelievaeble.

He is an RW partisan, being provocative. Obama is so calm it is amazing.

8. I just read somewhere that he is still undecided.
I mean, just because a relative is a GOP donor, that doesn't mean anything. He seemed opinionated, but I just thought that was a great moment for Obama.

11. I'm thinking he was a GOP plant to make Obama look bad. It backfired.

2. can we get a temporary sticky for this?
Not only because some people haven't seen it, but because of the way Barack TOTALLY handled Joe's question.

"Well, yeah."

3. I feel compelled to point out....
I said after watching that video last night, they should hold tonight's debate in the streets of Toledo, let John and Barack talk to whomever will listen and then the man with the most people standing around them after 90 mins is the winner.

Little did I know that instead of the debate coming to Joe, he would come to the debate.

9. Agreed...
Obama has such a great way of dealing with people. I wonder if these paranoid nutjobs would feel the same way they do about him ("scary terrorist") if they actually met him? I think it's highly unlikely that they would feel that way. He's respectful of other people's viewpoints and is good at arguing his own viewpoints without being rude to them.

6. My question-
Just how much does "Joe the Plumber" make?

Over $250.000/ year?

I don't know of ONE "average guy" who makes that
kind of money.

Obama handled this very well.

12. Joe Is OK.....Wait Don't Kill Me Yet
Look the guy asked a fair enough question of Barack and they had a good discussion. Joe's facial expressions were friendly (although he seemed nervous) and he seemed to listen to Barack intently. Joe has to realize that if his small business is going to make over $250,000 a year he does need to understand that he is very fortunate already and even after paying an additional increase in taxes, he will still be way better off than so many of us in America. And Barack was gracious (actually, he was awesome with this guy because he didn't bullshit him like McCain would have) and told him that it was up to Joe as to whether he should vote for him and thanked him for listening.

Without offending anyone here, understand that the wealthiest of Americans have been coddled to for years while so many Americans go without the essentials in life at their expense (because the well off don't want to pay their fair share of the American Dream) while they tell others less fortunate than they to pick themselves up by the bootstraps. Jesus H. Christ, so many are going to have to decide whether they can keep their house warm or put food on the table this winter.

Note: Even after paying more taxes, as Barack pointed out to Joe, after deductions and not having to pay capital gains tax, Joe Still wins.

small businesses in Obamas plan. He explained his plan to Joe very well I thought.

14. Obama Has Talked About It Before
Edited on Wed Oct-15-08 11:24 PM by The Shadow
I don't recall what the threshold is for a company to have to pay capital gains taxes, but most small businesses, if not all, do not have to pay it anyway.
