Could somebody explain to me what "gold plated" health insurance is
And why Bush, McCain, and other Republicans seem to have such a sneering contempt for it, which is particularly ironic since they are getting THE BEST health coverage available. I suppose that they wish that more people had worse insurance (or none at all)?

1. Didja notice McCain used 'transplants' as being one of the perks of gold plated healthcare?

10. I think (guess?) he meant "hair transplants"
...because that joke didn't flop quite big enough last week. What a loser. And then he forgot part of the joke, so it was even worse.

The real question is actually what a "gold-plated Cadillac health insurance" is.

7. Yes he did. Compared it to cosmetic surgery. Major gaffe.

5. An Insurance Policy That Covers Damn Near Everything
Edited on Wed Oct-15-08 11:01 PM by The Shadow
Believe it or not there are some more fortunate individuals in this country that have company paid insurance policies that cover almost everything, including elective procedures. Usually these are reserved for CEOs and the wealthy.

Added: Oh yes, members of congress I believe.

6. I thought he said "gold plated Cadillac" insurance. Figured it was code word for welfare.

8. I have what is considered a Cadillac gold plate heath plan..
Only $10 co-pays for office visits and prescriptions, nothing for hospitals or other outpatient facilities.

I'm thankful too..had a hysterectomy and had to undergo chemo for ovarian cancer and take lots of pills, and only paid maybe $140 total between scripts and office visits...no hospital bill for two surgeries and stays..and no payments for chemo treatments...

Cadillac dental and vision too..

He wants to tax that...McCain that is...
