I truly savored Obama's Frederick Fucking Chopin Moment of tonight's debate
Billy Clanton: Stephen Foster. "Oh, Susannah", "Camptown Races". Stephen stinking Foster.
Doc Holliday: Ah, yes. Well, this happens to be a nocturne.
Billy Clanton: A which?
Doc Holliday: You know, Frederic fucking Chopin.

“Senator Obama, I am not President Bush,” McCain said. “If you wanted to run against President Bush, you should have run four years ago.”

“If I’ve occasionally mistaken your policies for George Bush’s policies, it’s because on the core economic issues that matter to the American people — on tax policy, on energy policy, on spending priorities — you have been a vigorous supporter of President Bush,” he said.

2. Ok, I just finished reading "The Host", so...
...I may have space creatures on my mind, but McCain looks like
a friggen alien!!

His eyes are turning alien!

Will his head become more almond-shaped in the coming days?

4. I'd predict his head will take on a more pear-like shape.
Yes, he did seem to be morphing into some alien creature tonight. I think that translates into- he was actually trying to smile.

17. I predict his head will explode...buy stock in super glue
I have never seen such arrogance and disdain so nakedly displayed. Is this what ANYone would want sitting across from another world leader?

5. McCain was W-I-R-E-D tonight.
Edited on Wed Oct-15-08 10:49 PM by Amerigo Vespucci
Lots of "was he medicated" posts on DU, and I don't know the answer to that, but Obama was cool, calm & collected, while McCain was having some kind of sugar rush or something.

9. he acted like Bush did in his first debate in 2004
Making faces, squirming around, saying "it's hard work" over and over. It was like that, especially after the first half hour or so.

7. And he was excited about the Ayers thing, too...
...there's a clip in the Political Videos forum that shows his "instant approval" tanking at that moment...even among Republicans.

This was supposed to be a "game-changer" for McCain. I didn't witness ANY of that.

11. It was a game changer
Edited on Wed Oct-15-08 10:56 PM by blossomstar
that will make Obama win by a landslide. McCain was repulsive. He has no idea on how to lead this country during this very real crisis and he basically told the country that fact tonight. He used his energy "distructively" instead of "constructively" for all to see what he really is... a pathetic little man.

Edit: destructively, my spelling sucks. Sorry.

19. "The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game"
The classic single from Motown's The Marvelettes, by way of the Batman Forever Soundtrack by Massive Attack:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFtqfaPAQf0

You're right, it was a game changer, and not in the way that McCain intended.

Obama came prepared, Obama discussed what was on the minds of every working class American in 2008. McCain came armed with Ayers talking points because Obama BAITED him, and McCain, being the sad and angry broken man that he is, TOOK THE BAIT.

20. And he did it with SUCH CLASS...just like the movie.
Mme. Defarge, you were around for my "Johnny Ringo" thread last night, and I'm sure you'll agree...that movie has become the CENTRAL metaphor for this election. Wyatt Earp is going to take the White House.

21. I doubt many will get your reference,
but that was a great scene in a good movie.
Doc was playing Chopin Nocturne E minor Op72 on a Honky Tonk piano in a Wild West Saloon.
Even on an out-of-tune, worn out upright, Doc made it sound beautiful.
I loved that scene.
"Frederic Fucking Chopin" (You couldn't begin to understand, asshole)

McCain was waaaayyyy out of his league tonight.

Camptown Races vs Chopin Nocturne.

Thanks for the smile.

23. Elegant and brilliant.
What makes Obama so remarkable, though, is that he can get the average American to understand complex and nuanced ideas because he is such a superb teacher.

Credit where credit is due. Hats off to Professor Obama.
