His point is that Chavez is one of the list of "evil" leaders that Obama will speak to "without preconditions". He then holds this in contrast to Obama's rejection of the Columbia trade deal. (Note the difference in each - one is talking, the other is increasing a preferential relationship.

Now, Columbia has been a problem for decades - it was called a narcocountry at one point, but in RW land, it is Venezuela that is the evil country. (Here's a DKOS diary that explains the Columbia argument - http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/15/222351/96 )

it was just that to me it was very awkward, the timing on it. It was SO OBVIOUS he was talking to his base.
