McCain screwed himself up with his abortion answer.
McCain made a mess of that. He took an anti-woman position throughout culminating in him dismissing "the health of the mother" as a medical reason for abortion. His anti-woman position is really what's killing him in the polls and focus groups.

13. So did i - for the health of my tv
He may as well just come right out and say that women aren't even human so nobody (including women voters) should give a shit about them. I truly despise this man.

10. Fundies argue that if you allow health-of-the-mother, abortions will continue unchecked
But it was that line of thinking that caused South Dakota to vote down a state ballot measure in '06. Even though most in SD are (according to polls) anti-choice, the failure to allow for rape and health-of-the-mother in the measure killed it.

11. the very worst thing I heard him say..
was not that there would be any assistance for single mothers, but there would be more adoption agencies. That broke my heart.

14. I think political people see it differently than real people.
We're looking for different targets to get hit than most people. We expect McCain to be a poorly mannered child. Most voters don't. That makes an impression.
