Poll question: Are you helping Barack Obama get elected?
I don't mean by putting a sign in your yard or a bumper sticker on your car. Are you making calls, knocking on doors, registering voters? We're ahead now, but as Keith O. just reminded us, we still have three weeks to go and ANYTHING can happen between now and November 4th.

Are you helping?

Post here and let us know what you're doing. Maybe your work will inspire another DUer to help out as well.

6. This is fantastic. Have you found them to be receptive?
barackobama.com makes the whole process pretty easy, doesn't it? you get a script and a list of voters to call. i totally recommend this to anyone who is able to talk on the phone. :) and DUers are always up on the issues and would make excellent phone bankers.

Are you gonna go see Bill on Friday? I was invited but I'll be working when he arrives, and by the time I could get there it would be too late. Boo.

2. Phonebanking to swing states.
In 2004, every weekend for months, I traveled to Nevada to work for Kerry. This year, a health issue prevents me from traveling too far. But I can make phone calls.

8. Launching walks, making calls, door knocking
I'll be hosting a launch site for GOTV for the next three weeks (early vote and EDay). I'll also donate some food, water, pens and what not for our walkers.

12. Based on that criterion a lot of people will be a no
I live overseas -- Korea

No, I am not knocking on doors, calling people or canvassing.
The logistics of that are almost impossible.
If I was in the Army it would be easier, but the restrictions would be tighter.

I do, however, talk to friends of mine (and their friends or anyone else) when we have lunch together on Saturdays and talk up all of the Dems running - Obama, US Senators, Congressman, Governors, etc

I have donated money to the cause.

24. Of course
But, I think anything you do to get people to vote for Obama makes you involved.

When I was in the Narita Airport, I saw three servicemen, officers there.

I did what I always do, I thanked them for their service to their country and let them know I appreciate all they do.

One of them said to me, "If you really want to show your appreciation - vote Obama."

To me that sways voters a lot.
When people bring up the military angle, that is one of my first examples I use to show that Obama is supported by the military

18. Other: I have gave the maximum amount, and have yard signs, bumper stickers, etc.
My work takes up too much time to be active knocking on doors, etc., and my wife and I also have small children. That keeps us pretty busy.

20. Did neighborhood canvassing Sunday, going again next Sat. and Sun.!
I can't believe I haven't done this before! It was SO fun. I did just go on a tag-along so I could get the hang of it, but after a few houses, I started participating. I can't imagine a better way to spend a weekend afternoon! Seriously--it was exhilirating, and I only wish we were doing it THIS weekend here, too.

23. 20+ hours a week canvassing - and THANK YOU phonebankers!
When I get too tired to canvass, I've done data entry. This is not easy for a fat man. My knee hurts, my back hurts, my TiVo is backlogged -- oh, the horror! When I pick up my kid from schoo, the first words out of her lips are, "We're not canvassing again today, are we?" My coworkers wonder why I look tired all the time, my boss is pissed because I've already taken November 3-5 off, and I haven't graded an essay on time yet this school year.

But, I'm looking at it this way. If Obama loses, I will forever wonder if there's not one more door I could have knocked on. But if he wins, I will know it's because I knocked on that one extra door.

And thank you, thank you, thank you out of state phone bankers. We've got a lot of volunteers here (we've hit every door in our AD multiple times -- first ever!), but none of it would be possible without the out-of-state phonebankers making the calls so we can knock on the doors and spend our local resources more wisely. I hope to see some of y'all inthe next few weekends, too. Come one out to Vegas and knock on some doors with us! The weather's perfect right now, and, as an added bonus, it's not currently on fire!
