Needing a diversion from the talking heads and "Bush is god" ideology of the last week. I decided to try and catch a couple of DVDs I have been wanting to see. On my must see list is "Outfoxed - Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism" by Robert Greenwald and "Unprecedented - The 2000 Presidential Election" - 2004 Campaign Edition by Joan Sekler. Decided tonight's the night. Well, except I can't find a copy to rent of either movie.
I already have several copies of Fahrenheit 9/11 on pre-order from Amazon, and could quickly put in a request for copies of Outfoxed and Unprecedented, too, but that's not the point. I'm spending a quiet evening at home, need to have a little sanity on the boob tube for a change so I set out to find a couple of rental copies for my perusal. No luck with any of the rental stores in town. Asked if they were going to be getting copies and one snot-nosed kid actually told me that the owner told him to be on the look out for any "left-wing wackos" who want to watch F9/11 or Outfoxed. He said the guy was kidding, sort of.
Am I ever going to find these items at my local stores or is the thought police doing a number in your town, too? Guess I will just buy the things - certainly want to support crusading movie makers - The Truth Squad is outnumbered!
