I am Very Proud of My Husband!!
Background: My husband is not a political creature. He votes the right way, but does not like discussing politics. He comes from a family of Democrats, all of whom (except one) are not "political creatures".

His sister Debbie & I are, however, total political junkies. For Debbie's birthday last month I suggested that the best gift he could give her was to donate to Barack Obama's campaign and to let her know. So he did.

That was his first, and I presumed last, political donation.

This morning I got an IM from him:

Him: "I just donated to B.O.'s campaign again."

Me: "Why? What prompted that?"

Him: "Nothing specific. It's just the right thing to do."

Three cheers for the wonderful husband! :D

I can't imagine how hard that must have been for you. He sounds like he was a good, kind man, and a :toast: to him as well.

9. Obama has really excited the "non-political" people I know
My husband use to roll his eyes at me for being a political junkie. Now he looks forward to the debates and he actually watches Olbermann and Rachel Maddow with me (he's a huge Rachel fan now).

In '04, I managed to nag my most non-political friend to finally register and vote but she still wasn't very interested. This year though, we went to a party and the subject turned to politics. She leaned into me and whispered "you know what? I really like Obama and I wasn't sure before, but now I think I'm a Democrat!". This was during the primary. I was pleasantly shocked.

The majority of pro-Obama emails and anti-McCain YouTube links I receive are from a retired Army friend who voted for Bush in '04. She was never very political and she admitted that she only voted for Bush because she didn't want to "change horse midstream" since we were still in Iraq. Now she engages in very heated arguments with any friends and family members that say anything negative against Obama.

Obama has whatever it is that makes people stop and listen.
