The McKakis Campaign's Final Weeks
The now pathetic McCain campaign has managed to Dukakis itself, and that is no mean feat. At least Mike Dukakis was destroyed by Bush I, by the prototype of Karl Rove, Lee Atwater, by the churning emergence of the CorpMedia Rightwing Smear Machine. McKakis has managed to wreck himself with his own erratic judgment, with a campaign that veers from issues to personal attacks, always misstepping and off-balancing itself along the way. It is a campaign that suspends itself in such an ungainly fashion, and for no real reason, that it became the manic and devastating focus of Dave Letterman's Late Night Bully Pulpit, in a transparently failed effort to use a spectacular financial crisis for its own political advantage. A campaign that picks perhaps the worst vice presidential candidate in modern history, who promptly, after a two week CorpMedia manufactured buzz, reveals herself to have a spectacular Miss Teen South Carolina propensity for downright idiotic foot-in-mouth disease. And the final blow, advised no doubt by Rove himself, has been the disaster of the two week Smear Fest and Hate Mongering that has now become the hallmark of this Epic Failure.

Good show Johnny.

1. Can we not use Dukakis in a bad way?
He is a good man, a good Democrat.

2. Mike agrees that he ran a truly terrible campaign.
I am sure he would find the usage here amusing. Lighten up.

7. As do I. This is not an attack on Dukakis.
Mike is quite in agreement that he ran one of the worst presidential campaigns in modern history. I am sure he would be delighted to have McCain set a new standard.

8. Dukakis thought the American people were better than they were
and would see thru the attacks. McCain has run a down and dirty campaign from the start.

9. Dukakis didn't know what hit him.. McKakis hit himself.
That is the difference here.
