David Shuster has been covering Troopergate today.
He's been bringing it up with every McCain surrogate, pointing out that she was NOT cleared of unethical behavior as she and they claimed. He also debunked the claim that it was a partisan/Obama supporter who wrote the report by saying there were 10 Repubs. and only 4 Dems. on the board. He's also showing the video of her getting booed at the game in Philly.

1. So Schuster is basically reporting the facts?
Just the facts and nothing else? Isn't that what a reporter is SUPPOSED to do? Others could learn from him. Seriously.

3. Yup. He even said, "Nice try" when a surrogate used the "partisan report" line.

2. What is very telling...
is that Palin isn't even the least bit bothered that her very integrity has been called into question. She was found guilty of abuse of power, for Chrissakes! Yet this doesn't even faze her. As long as she doesn't face a jail term, she considers herself 'cleared'. This is a person with no ethics, and no real conscience.

7. She DENIES her integrity was called into question by anyone other than "partisan Obama
supporters." But she's being called on it.

So I'm glad it's being brought back up. It's important news!

15. Did you see the thread about ACORN and the photo of McLame at an ACORN meeting
in 2006?

They gave a statement that indicated that he had been a supporter during the immigration debates and were saddened that he no longer supported the effort. They then provided a big ole picture of him sitting in an ACORN meeting! As soon that goes viral, the ACORN story will be dead dead dead.

Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 03:22 PM by Blue_In_AK
It's so completely ridiculous for them to claim this was a partisan witchhunt. Please read Shannyn Moore's blog entry The Truth is Not Partisan http://shannynmoore.wordpress.com/2008/10/12/the-truth-is-not-partisan/ which makes it abundantly clear what's going on here.

These guys have been trying to paint this as a partisan matter ever since Sarah was nominated, despite the fact that it has ALWAYS been a bipartisan investigation which she herself agreed to before her "elevation." It's shameful what they've done here in Alaska to smear good public servants of both parties.

23. "Facts" like that don't matter to most Republicans...
Back a few years ago, when Tony Scalia denied some sort of motion for Tom DeLay, DeLay went on to complain about activist judges - Tony Scalia, the RW icon?

as it seemed like she was getting a pass yesterday. I noted with great interest that ABC GMA? morning show just slammed her relentlessly for this, showing thse clips of her saying she was cleared and then saying she was not truthful in relaying the report's meaning and that she did act unthically even if it was not unlawful. This morning also TODAY Show Lauer interviewed Moneghan (sp?) which was weak, but the story was given a chunk of time. Regardless of how Miss Alaska looks at it, it does not help her or MCCAIN that it is being talked about and covered as much as it is today. I figured it would be dead to the MSM, but it looks like they were just waiting for Monday morning.

14. Finally pushing back on the "Obama supporters" meme
I don't know how Dem surrogates were letting them get away with it this long.

That's what they need to do: remind everyone that 1) this investigation was approved by a 10R/4D panel before Palin was tapped as McCain's running mate; and 2) she WAS found to have committed an ethics violation according to AK state law, even if she chooses to proclaim her innocence from her bubble of denial.

She thinks McCain's speech was a sign of how he wants to end his campaign-by going out as the "fighter" he used to be seen as instead of just someone being negative/going on the attack.
