Please, slow down! It ain't over yet!
I know, I know, the polls look great but we have THREE WEEKS to go! I am worried we are all getting too sure of success, and we could still lose it. You never know what will happen in THREE WEEKS!

PLEASE!

Keep calling, keep going house to house, keep talking to people ... Never assume the victory until it is truly won!

1. it's called "momentum" and we've got it in our favor
the last few weeks we'll be sprinting downhill with the wind at our backs.

We will gain more voters as they seek to be on the side that's winning.

We are not stopping nor becoming complacent, but simply looking around and realizing that we Can win this and that we Are winning this.

4. Not one single person here does not realize this.
But this has been a long, hard, excruciating road. We're a bit ahead in the polls. They could tighten, or they could widen further and further as we approach election day. There's nothing wrong with people being thrilled right now. I am, while at the same time, realizing this is not over yet. Give the good people here at DU some credit!

15. I think maybe people weren't here for 2004 with all the champagne threads...
..and then the utter and complete devastation when Kerry lost because of Ohio.

5. Agreed but Obama is remaining focussed and that's what matters
He has not strayed at all from his message and he's out there stumping his ass off for us. So take some comfort in that. :)

6. No disrespect meant, but can people PLEASE stop posting stuff like this?
We are all adults. We all know what happened in 2000 and 2004. No one is going to "stop" working.

Okay? Calm down.

8. Because he's preaching to the choir. We're ALL working. We will ALL continue to work.
All this being scared that everyone is just sitting on their asses doing nothing is really kind of condescending.

We all know what we have to do.

9. But people are slowing down
There's been a lot of back-patting and victory dancing - we need to work like we're 10 points behind.

Okay? -- so don't get too calm.

11. But how can you tell that on a message board?
It's nice to see the surveys tilt in Obama's direction, but I know that hasn't stopped me from contributing to the campaign.

You'd think that knowing what happened in 2000 and 2004, most people have learned not to rest easy until it's a done deal come Nov. 5.

But that doesn't mean people should be discouraged from being happy with the direction in which the polls are tilting.

14. Thank you! Let's keep reminding people to stop the champagne talk and GOTV!!
we cannot rest until McCain and his lawyers concede on election night. Until then?? We have to work like we're behind, because in this crazy world there is no lead big enough to stop fraud in key states.

Remember.. it's not a popular vote, it's the electoral college that counts, and all they have to do is screw with a state or two and we can have crushing disappointment like 2000 and 2004.

16. The Republicans are pros at stealing elections.

We need significant majorities in the key states to ensure they don't do it again. It's more than just voting, it's also about protecting those votes.

Letters and emails lying about when and where people can vote.

Uniformed security guards hanging around some polling places hoping to frighten some folks and keep them from voting.

Tampering with voting machines

Not enough machines for large crowds

.
.
.

They know every possible dirty trick and they will use them all

Stay optimistic, but more important stay vigilant. The worse it looks for the Repubs they more effort they will put into stealing the election.
