Bill Maher: Bush and Kerry Agree on Iraq
Edited on Sat Sep-04-04 12:12 AM by dennis4868
twice during his show tonight he said that Bush and Kerry have the exact same position on Iraq. Dean handled it pretty well although he did not explain that Kerry only authorized Bush to use force and never voted for the war and that Kerry would have allowed the inspection to continue and would have worked to get other countries tp come aboard if force would ever be needed.

But it bothers me that someoen who is clearly supporting Bush would say such a think on national cable TV....just dont get it.

4. It's an interviewing tactic

intended to gently lead the target in the intended direction. Maher wants these guys to **answer the charges** ... to show in simple terms why this is so much bullshit. Maher wants to be crushed under the weight of it ... alas, Dean did not quite come through, but then it is not quite his place to speak for Kerry.

Kerry's gotta take this head on. And, no, his position is quite distinct from Bush's on the war. And handing the President poker chips to play the game with doesn't mean he was OK with Georgie Boy going off half cocked. Kerry's only mistake was to trust this man, who said war would be a LAST RESORT. Bush lied, once again.

10. I have watched Bill Maher since 1997 and he NEVER
Edited on Sat Sep-04-04 12:27 AM by devrc243
has supported the republican candidate. Not only that, he got on his hands and knees begging Ralph Nader not to run. No, Maher just calls it as he sees it and even though I don't always like the way he sends his message without the sugar-coating, he's dead on alot of times.

He wants Bush OUT and he wants Kerry to toughen up!

6. Maher hates Shrub
he and Moore literally begged Nader not to run on Maher's show because they know that Kerry could only be an improvement over Shrubya.

9. he generalizes a lot
or maybe it is, on paper, that both Kerry and bush CLAIM to want more countries involved in rebuilding. Of course, GWB will never be able to rebuild the bridges he burnt with the UN, France, Germany, Russia, Spain, Belgium, Greece, Portugal... or, as * says, just "France."

13. Maher despises Bush. He is just plain-spoken, expects it from others.
I have gotten irritated with him, but it is his show after all. He does get a lot of attention to the cause of the non-Bushes so it is worth it.

He does NOT support Bush, he just wants a big difference in the two parties. I can understand that. It should not be a subtle one which is not easily understood. It should be clear.
