McCain scraps new policy plans, instead changes stump speech

You just never know what you're going to get out of McCainworld.

Bypassing new policy proposals on the economy -- at least for now -- the senator will instead offer new language in appearances today in Virginia and North Carolina.

As first reported by Mike Allen, McCain will tweak Democrats for their presumptuousness, raise the specter of Democrats in full control of both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue and signal that's he not going down without a fight -- albeit, perhaps, one that doesn't include any punches below the perceived belt:

“Let me give you the state of the race today. We have 22 days to go. We’re six points down. The national media has written us off. Senator Obama is measuring the drapes, and planning with Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid to raise taxes, increase spending, take away your right to vote by secret ballot in labor elections, and concede defeat in Iraq. But they forgot to let you decide. My friends, we’ve got them just where we want them.

"What America needs in this hour is a fighter; someone who puts all his cards on the table and trusts the judgment of the American people. I come from a long line of McCains who believed that to love America is to fight for her. I have fought for you most of my life. There are other ways to love this country, but I’ve never been the kind to do it from the sidelines."

The real reason for this speech is he has no plan. McSame as Bush.

5. So let's get this straight. McPalin is again changing his strategy. He's
saying that everyone should ignore everything that has happened before and look at him now. That they're behind, outside the margin of error, and that is exactly where they want to be (shades of the Black Knight!). Here is the new and improved McPalin.

Is there a stronger word than "erratic"?

6. Isn't it a little too late in the game to be making these changes?

With only three weeks left and you're still grabbling for ideas and "new language," then maybe it's time to throw in the towel(?)
