Will McCain try to drop a "bombshell" on Obama Wednesday night?
Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 07:59 AM by cali
Is he desperate and stupid enought to try and throw some shit that hasn't really made it in to the mainstream conversation, something beyond Ayers?

What can he possibly do to change the direction of the race? What does he need to do? And what does Obama need to do in the face of bomb throwing by McCain?

This is McCain's last chance to really change the dynamics of the race. I suspect he'll go all out to smear Obama. And I think, if that's the case, all Obama has to do is calmly refute McCain's attacks and frame them as the desperate, false attacks that they are.

I hope he does bring up Ayers
Obama will finally be given an opportunity to produce a masterful rebuttal live and in front of the nation.

Anyway, McCain's too much of a chickenshit. He knows what he's in for. So he won't do it.

He simply hasn't got the spine, the brain, or any ammo left. He's going to let his last chance slip by without anything but the most feeble insinuations. Count on it.

7. Ayers has fallen flat and all that is left from the old playbook is Rezko.
Now that Ayers has been tied to the truth - the employee of a REPUBLICAN foundation that continues to be supported by them, that failed line has to end. So since he took Wright off the table and the past couple weeks, there has been all this nonsense rolling around the 'net about the now-jailed Rezko supposedly "spilling beans", McKKKlan could be suicidal and continue to "go negative" by sliding that out there as if there was some "there" there.

Otherwise, I had heard Bob Schieffer comment late Saturday night on a radio broadcast where he said that he was planning on opening up the debate to encourage the candidates to ask questions to each other to supposedly generate a back and forth discussion. I can imagine what that will be like when you have an erratic candidate who is down in the polls and whose party mates are abandoning him for going bat-shit crazy in a hate-fest and whose hard-core lunatic fringe RW base is about to abandon him for NOT going bat-shit crazy in a hate-fest.

Today it is the head of the Virginia GOP by comparing Obama to Osama bin Laden ("Both have friends who have bombed the Pentagon").

29. Note my response on the incidence of "tone-deaf dullards" in the GOP.
They will say that Corsi's problems in Kenya are somehow proof of an Obama-Odinga connection. They both have funny names, for one thing. What more proof do you need?

Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 08:49 AM by BumRushDaShow
Mooselini is trying to hold the rabid, knuckle-dragging wing of the base, but by doing that, she has already turned off the independents. And it's the independents that they need and those folks have had enough. The latest WP/ABC poll showed that this whole negative line of nonsense has been an EPIC FAIL and the poll was done just one day after debate. Since then, the media has braggingly covered Mooselini's KKK rallies and RW-biased M$M have pushed the Ayers story until it backfired, and that has only made it worse. So going in the Kenya direction to try to sow confusion will be met with deaf indie ears and will drive the negatives up even more!

46. Well yes, "no shortage" doesn't mean it isn't a finite number that probably does not exceed about
35% of the electorate - and may not be that high, considering that Smirky is down to about 23% - as good a measure of dullards as any.

11. Stick with "say it to my face" & follow this formula of attack (i can only dream)
Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 08:19 AM by Essene
Challenge Mccain to say this stuff to his face.

To try to pull out his "character" assassination nonsense in person. Mccain will be FORCED to show his supporters that he believes it... and all Obama has to do is say:

A) "As for character, the american people just have to ask themselves... which of us has changed in the last year based on polls, based on cynical politics? Which of us has compromised their principles and integrity in the running of their campaign? John promised to stay focused on the issues and to run a clean campaign. His own republican friends are saying they no longer even recognize him."

B) "You know, your close buddy Joe Lieberman JUST said he would probably support me some day. I believe he was your first pick for VP, wasn't he? Obviously he's still in your camp right now, but it says a lot about your attempts to destroy my character when your wingman himself rejects those attacks. There are many republicans who have openly criticized your campaign and your attacks."

C) "Likewise, i find it strange that when asked by the wonderful Pastor Rick Warren, in a forum on ethics and faith, to name 3 people whose advice you most value... you named John Lewis. However, when Lewis gave his advice... you attacked him mercilessly. You must not respect his experience and advice all that much, and i think those who watched the Rick Warren forum should reflect on that. You threw a temper tantrum rather than to consider the basic point he was making. I don't completely agree with him either, but again... look at how you responded."

D) "I've been campaigning for 20 months & getting to meet americans all over this great country. There have been over 30 debates. There have been countless interviews and exposes on my life, on my associations. You keep up with this suggestion that there's some hidden, radical side to me that needs investigation. Yet every time you toss something out, the fact checkers call it silly. You obviously would like to focus on character assassination more than the issues troubling america, but john... that says a lot about your character. And if you are going to change who you are based on polls, then maybe you ought to listen to the american people this time. They care about the issues. Your own campaign announced that they'd stop discussion the economy because it was hurting you in the polls. It's time to for straight talk about what matters, John."

Just imagine the RAGE on Mccain's face...

Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 08:22 AM by nickn777
He has already proclaimed he will rip his you know what in the debate.......he has already scheduled a dave letterman appearance the day after the debate.....and you know what will happen there......lots of back slapping, laughing, as McCain jokes with the crowd...."Was I sensational last night my friends!".....etc,,,,,,lots of thunderous applause that will get played over and over again on news clips...

The roaring comeback will be the story played up in the media this week since the stock market has to rebound...lots of "Mac is back" shit....

Be prepared for it folks....polls will be a statistical dead heat by next week-end, however, I think we will still prevail and win by a few points...still optimistic, but this week is already setting up as McCain's media week.....

The one they are whipping together at the last minute and McCain of course, will have it all memorized and be able to comprehensively and articulately explain it to all the undecided  and convince all the voters his plan will save America from the disastrous plans of the democratic ticket.

It's another bridge to nowhere for them.

Although he did promise to bring up all the be afraid of Obama stuff at the rally before he said Obama was to be respected.

Can John McCain afford to lose the votes and anger the people he made that promise to?

I already voted for Obama, in OHIO.

to counter any low-ball attack would be to point out that McCain hired the same team of liars that smeared him in 2000 to smear Obama now. Paint McCain as untrustworthy. It's not like it isn't true - his campaign staff is like an all-star team of character assassins.

remain calm and cool and above the fray like he has been doing. McCain is the desperate one, and he looks it, let him rant and rave all he wants. At this point Obama getting down in the mud with him is McCain's only chance. I'm not saying that he should let any false accusations go unanswered, but he must remain calm when he does answer.
