*****ATTENTION!!! Obama Will Win and will Serve TWO TERMS*****
:patriot:
.
.And anyone that wants to piss all over his chances this time or in 2012 can STFU!!!

I'm getting pretty tired of this shit, if we can't talk about the primaries then we shouldn't be able to talk about the fucking 2012 election.

And anyone that says, "talk me down" can just stay up there or take a fucking jump.

We Win This Time, and We Win in 2012!

According to the fucking whiny handwringing brigade, at least.

10. My rule is that I don't say anything too positive so as not
to cause a ripple in the scheme of things, but I also do not say anything too negative for the same reason. What anyone else says positive about Barack does not bother me at all, but the nay sayers can just STFU. I don't want to hear/read the negative shit.

My ex came to see my daughter today and started with the negative stuff and I told him to shut up. Of course, I cooked dinner for him and my daughter. Good old Dominican food. Well, my version of Dominican food. Hmmmmm.

25. Are you talking about East Houston street in NYC.
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 11:30 PM by rebel with a cause
My food is not authentic because I am a Gringa, but I try. Also, here in the mid-west it is hard finding everything I want to use. I learned what I know when I lived in NYC and watched my then in-laws cook their food. I have since went on the internet and learned some of the secrets they did not let me privy to. ;)

I made my own sofrita the other day for seasoning, a lot of work but saves time when you are cooking a meal. I gave some to my sister to try and my ex took some today for his own personal use. I didn't want him taking too much, and my daughter chastised me because I had two quarts of it. But I told her that it doesn't last long when you're doing the cooking and it's a lot of work to make more. Here too it is my version of their item because I have to come up with my own recipe, but when my ex wanted it that made me think that I had gotten it right this time. :7

And I know what you mean about the Dominican Thanksgiving dinner. Christmas is pretty good also with them. My daughter will eat their food with me, but my son is purely Gringo in his eating. Well, to be truthful my daughter is like me and likes all types of ethnic food and my son likes almost none of them. My son does not live at home anymore so we are adventurous in our food at times. Chicken and dumplings in our house tomorrow night.

Maximo's family had a Bodega and he and his daughters worked his store and at Katz's, other little jobs too probably.

Just the nicest people ever!

Your food sounds good, after all what is good cooking other than made up shit using influences from other sources?

31. Hearing the NYC addresses make memories come flooding back
even after twenty-eight years. I have gone back to visit, but my ex in-laws live in Brooklyn while I lived for the most part on the lower East side of Manhattan. Lived mostly in the Latino community, and loved it. If my ex had been different, I would still be there. In fact, I wish I had found a way to stay up there and just get rid of him because the way it is he followed me here and is still in this area after seventeen years divorced.

I loved the Latino friends I had in NYC. A few years ago I did my Masters research project on the Dominican Republic and came to understand the Dominican culture a lot better. My ex didn't appreciate it, because now I know more about his history than he does. :7

The Maximo's family sound typical Dominican because for the most part they are hard working people. There are of course exceptions to the rule, as there is with anyone/anything. When I went to DR many years ago, the family there drove me crazy because they moved so slow. They got to NYC and they were running in no time, while I just walked fast. ;)

32. That was the doing of the Republicans as well
Notice how they exist to erode choice?

If you've got a horse that's running strong you need to be able to keep riding. If it turns into a nag you trade it in at the next town. The real trick is to limit the incumbent advantages during elections.

35. I have to say though that the knowledge that * would be limited to 8 years
really helped my anxiety / fear / whatever. Just knowing that there will be an end and knowing when that end will be - it's a good thing, not sure I'd want to give it up now even if it means that we could be limited by it.

Although another 4 years of Clinton would've been nice.

37. How about the "Obama Effect"? Opposite of the Bradley Effect?
In which people tell friends and pollsters that they're McCain all the way but vote for Obama on election day.

An attempt to create a Wikipedia was met with mostly disapproval. My original entry is gone, all that's left is the deletion discussion.

Obama effect

Obama effect (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) (delete) – (View log)

More neologism shenanigans. Ecoleetage (talk) 20:59, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

* For some reason, there's a page at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Obama Effect with different content than this one, and that page is linked to from the article. Someone who knows what's going on should fix this, please? --Rividian (talk) 21:28, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
o I fixed it, and will post what the user said in that AFD below this comment. But review to make sure I did it right is welcome. --Rividian (talk) 21:30, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
* This is a perfectly valid entry for inclusion on Wikipedia.

The "Obama Effect" is a term that has been used and, though new to the political lexicon, has every right to exist.
There is no justification for deletion, if there improvement in the article is required, then this can be done.
Censorship, however, of a new term, is nonsensical.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Bscottbscott (talk • contribs) — Bscottbscott (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.

Note Your summary when creating the article sums it up: A potential difference between the way voters in the 2008 presidential election respond to surveys and polls and the way they might actually vote which screams original research. And censorship??? PaLEESE. Go ahead and call us racists, too, while you are at it. PHARMBOY (TALK) 11:45, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

* Delete. It's utterly unreferenced, and purely speculative anyway... it refers to something that might be a term if a certain thing happens. This is not encyclopedic topic, based on facts in evidence. --Rividian (talk) 21:31, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
* Delete per WP:NEO. And I swear I'll pistol whip the next person who says "shenanigans". MuZemike (talk) 21:59, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
* Delete as pure wp:neo. PHARMBOY (TALK) 23:35, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
* Delete Unproven speculation. Edward321 (talk) 23:39, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
* Delete as a neologism. Majoreditor (talk) 01:56, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
* Delete poitical sh... sh... stuff. JuJube (talk) 04:51, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
* Delete using the Wikipedia isn't for this kind of stuff effect. Just because a neologism is used doesn't make it notable or inclusion worthy. Jasynnash2 (talk) 09:04, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
* Delete as the article does not establish that this has become a notable coined phrase. In fact all but one of the articles sourced seem to simply use it as a general descriptor. No prejudice against recreation if time reveals that the term "Obama Effect" actually picks up some equity, and there might be something worth merging with the main Obama article and/or the article on his campaign (I assume there is one), but I don't sense any viability as a separate article at this time. 23skidoo (talk) 14:24, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
* Conceeded the the term is not yet well enough established to warrant an entry. I noticed that similar political terms, for example "Reagan Democrat", have come to earn an entry and so we might expect that, in time, "Obama Effect" will likewise have a wikipedia entry that meets the standards. Bscottbscott (talk) 21:38, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
o That is a good point. The fact is, most similar terms never rise to notability beyond the moment. Your conclusion is also correct that the term *might* rise in notability, if he wins, and if the term continues to be used. It just isn't there *yet* (if ever). PHARMBOY (TALK) 22:19, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
* Delete, neologism, unlikely to be ever seen again after the election. +Hexagon1 (t) 01:56, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
* Strong keep: The article is not outstanding, but it does not violate WP:NEO, which states, "Articles on neologisms frequently attempt to track the emergence and use of the term as observed in communities of interest or on the internet—without attributing these claims to reliable secondary sources" (emphasis added). This article, weak as its current draft is, is thoroughly sourced. Cosmic Latte (talk) 14:31, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
