Bill Clinton in Roanoke, VA dial up warning
Bill came to town this afternoon and I went and took a few photos. I have no short term memory so I've pretty much forgotten all the good zingers he got in at Bush and McSame. At one point he asked a rhetorical question about the Republicans in Congress and why they acted the way they did on the bailout bill I think and someone in the crowd yelled, "Because they're stupid!" Bill got a good chuckle out of that and said, "Yeah there's that."

On to the photos. I had a really good spot with a clear view of the stage then one tall guy popped up and I had to keep trying to shoot around him.

The line leading into the site. There were 2 entrance areas and the lines circled the block.

Sam Rasoul candidate for Congress running against Bob Goodlatte.

The crowd.

Bill

Security on the rooftops.

View from the parking garage.

And the nearly full moon coming up on a perfect fall evening.

1. GREAT pics! Thanks for sharing. Bubba has regained his campaigning prowess.
He has been fantastic in Florida and today in Pennsylvania. I am glad we are using him effectively.

Now I just wish they'd get him to WV.

12. This will help in Southern WV too
The Roanoke local TV markets include a huge portion of southern WV. The Roanoke Times also reaches this market. I predict you will see both Obama and Biden in WV in the coming weeks.

3. Great pictures.
Makes me homesick (Clifton Forge). Can't believe you didn't get one of the Mill Mountain Star! What's the Star City of the South without the star? :hi:

6. I was waiting for it to turn on
When I was taking the moon shot and some skyline photos I was hoping it would turn on but I got hungry. I can see it from my bedroom window though so I sometimes forgot it's even there I'm so used to it.

4. Great pics! And he really DID rush to VA like he said in PA! (Unlike McCain
canceling Letterman obstensibly to 'rush' to DC.)

The pundits were all "don't you think it's odd that Bill Clinton didn't stick around for the Biden and Hillary speeches? Why do you think he left?" They didn't believe the Virginia 'excuse' for a minute. HA - love it!

9. He even showed up early
He wasn't supposed to start until 6:15 but went on right at 6. I think he left here and went straight to Richmond for another rally.

16. Gotta love the AP
They are reporting "several hundred" people showed up. One local channel estimated 3500 so I guess that's technically several hundred.

Here's an aerial view of the rally location. The whole square was full with more people stretched onto the side streets. http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&FORM=LMLTCP&cp=q6brp08b4jvm&style=o&lvl=2&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=7056338&phx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&encType=1
