Dumb question - did Palins BIL ever get fired?
Not sure that I ever heard. I know the chief got fired. Did the new hire pull the trigger on the BIL? If so is the BIL suing? And is the old chief suing?

3. No, he has not been fired.
He was suspended for five days when the complaints first arose. From what I can gather, he's been clean since then, no more incidents, but the Palins have continued persecuting him because of custody disputes going on with Sarah's sister.

5. He's part of a strong union, so no.

This is why unions are so important. I just wish the police felt the same about the rest of our right to legally organize as they do about their own and refused to break strikes the same way they refused to buckle when their own union members are harassed.

7. I was involved in a legal strike a few years ago
The local police were "guarding" or "observing" us ( they didn't explain what they were doing, but it was intimidating). One of my fellow strikers approached them and said something along the lines of we are all union members, what are you doing here interfering with a legal strike? The next day, they were not there. And yes, our union prevailed, and we won every concession we asked for.

8. Now *that* is the way it's done...

Could you imagine how much better things would be if union members across the country could rely on similar? Your story is heartening!

9. Absolutely
To this day, I admire the way my "sister" union member approached the cop. She was friendly and concise. She got her point across without anger. Me? I was just stewing. I learned something that day.

6. the BIL is still a trooper and the replacement for Moneghan (sp?)
had to resign due to a sexual harassment charge the bubbled up for 2005. not sure what 'highly qualified expert' sarah has replaced him with.
