One good thing came out of Bush's presidency
the decline of republican power.

I hate that it had to come this way. I really really do. When people wouldn't listen to me in 2004, I thought, "you know what, just let them learn the hard way".

I never expected it to get so bad though

So much damage, death and destruction

My dad had become a 9/11 republican. Argued with me over politics.

Today he talked about watching the documentary "Recount" and totally believes the 2000 election was stolen and also says he will vote straight democrat ballot the rest of his life.

So many people have realized how damaging the republican policies are. The ones who still don't, probably never will. They would probably vote for a german shephard as long as it had a "R" by it's name.

1. As an American, I would rather have had a great Republican president.
We have lost so much. :-(

2. post-Lincoln, has there ever been a "great Republican President?"
and anyway, Lincoln was murdered by the people who took over the party -- rightwing southerners...

6. Eisenhower.
But I suspect if he were around now, he'd be a Democrat.

12. The architect of the Allied vicory in WWII warned us, in no uncertain
terms, that we must beware of the growing military industrial complex. Can you imagine what he would say now? Can youy imagine what he would say about cheney and haliburton? today's repugs think raygun was the messiah, and ignore the last great repub: Ike.

14. She was inspiring.Why isn't she on MTP? I don't think she's very
political (I could be wrong), but she might be someone the repubs would listen to. Then again, they don't want to hear reagan's son.

she would have gotten at least as much attention as that silly Rothschild woman.

Ah, the "liberal media"!

15. a "great" President? Ignoring McCarthy and civil rights?
He was merely "passable," compared to the Repube lunatics who followed...

And Nixon wasn't so bad. Apart from being a sociopathic, paranoid, egotistical madman, he was actually quite a decent president.

4. Yes, but I think we are going to hit rock bottom before heading back up...
.... to greater things. It feels like our society will be restructured, which would not be all bad.

7. I know, I didn't want it to come this way. I didn't understand in
2004 why Bush "won" again

3. will it really last, though? Setting aside all the shenanigans and
supremes effect on the last two elections, I would have thought that most people would have learned from raygun's lies and defecit spending. He's regarded as a demigod.
