What's your take on SP's upcoming appearance on SNL?
:shrug: Is that really gonna happen?

:puke:I don't want her there. I do not like the idea of humanizing the wolf-killa from Wasilla.

2. It's very likely that they'll satirize her and it'll go completely over SP's head
I mean the only confirmation she's actually seen SNL was that she watched Tina Fey with the sound MUTED.

So yeah, I think chances are good that she will play the unwitting straight man.

6. SNL has no soul
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 04:48 PM by sunnybrook
Of course they have been doing some great skits this season. But Lorne Michaels cares about the ratings and should in no way be seen as some kind of partner... Her appearance on the show will soften her image, and she will appear "charming" and able to laugh at herself just a week or two before the election. There is no way they will be TOTALLY ridiculing her to her face. In fact she will probably request that they ridicule Biden or the press or Obama and it will be soft humor with TIna Fey at her side. That's my prediction, unfortunately.

Edited to add: McCain/Palin may also score big points with Letterman too, do not count on them not scoring on there.

Candidates go on SNL to show that they don't have to be taken so seriously all the time. Sarah Palin has the opposite problem.

144. Mooselini..

<snip>

"If it is not, she has partly herself to blame. During her last visit to Philadelphia during the weekend of September 27, 2008, she made two huge blunders that did not go unnoticed by Philadelphians. The first, as reported in The Philadelphia Inquirer last Sunday, October 5, 2008, is that she actually attempted to leave her hotel for a jog wearing a New York Rangers' jersey. The second, in response to the first, is that she displayed how little she knows about hockey and sports, to one of sports’ most passionate fan bases. No hockey fan in their right mind would show up in Philadelphia wearing a jersey of a New York team, or vice-versa, without expecting some sort of fight to ensue."

<much more>

40. She went to some fancy fundraiser in Philly before the hockey event
and told the crowd there she was cheering on the Rangers. How WHACK was that. I swear to god if the Secret Service was not all over her they would have pelted her with Tomatoes.

Instead she used her daughter (and she admitted to it too) and a shield by putting a Flyers jersey on the 7year old girl. Now that is really WHACK!

36. The Democrats should get their talking points ready now--
She can't show up on NBC to answer questions from a journalist, but she can show up to yuck it up on an entertainment program. These are serious times which require serious answers to the many problems we're facing. Don't the voters deserve more?

38. I think it will be a monumental bust for Palin.
First, her voters don't watch SNL and wouldn't think it funny, if they did.

Second, that audience will hate her. New York City? No.

Third, she won't be funny, because she won't agree to do anything that is really funny. She'll want to play Tina Fey, and she won't bring it off.

We'll be laughing AT her, not WITH her.

41. extremely risky for her
for the 5% chance that she could show a more humble side and defuse some of the hate directed at her, there's a 95% chance she's going to face similar if not harsher treatment than she did on the philly hockey ice.
