DU Members need to be cautious and realistic.
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 04:45 PM by blueinindiana
It is true Obama is leading in the polls both nationally and in crucial swing states but some people on here are already moving Obama in to the White House.

The truth is this race will tighten as we get closer to election day.

Racism is alive in well in this country.
Voter suppression is in full swing.
Low Information voters who believe e-mails vote too.
Right wing Religious voters will be out in droves.

Electronic Voting machines are made and programmed by Republicans.

Obama has done a fine job beyond my expectations I expect him to keep it up.

This however is America where voters routinely vote against their own best interest we should never forget that.

1. K & R - AND they need to keep working, volunteering, donating, educating voters!
Don't sit on your haunches, folks, just because our guy is a good bit ahead in the polls. That will likely change somewhat in the next few weeks so we need to just KEEP WORKING like he's 10 points behind!!

20. WE need to work like we want to win by 20, its about the down ticket races
In 1932 FDR won by 18%, we took 97 seats in the house and 12 in the senate. All the negative vibes dont do any good.

3. Possibly
But the outpouring of support is something never before seen in American politics. People who never voted before are signing up. People who never volunteered before are. Even DU is damn near united, and that says a lot.

6. I agree that will be no double-digits victory and that the polls will tighten by some points.
But I believe Obama will still be ahead on election day and that he has a big chance to win over 300 EV. Nate Silver's models has Obama winning an average auf 349 EV, with just a 5 point popular vote lead. A big win doesn't require a double-digits lead.

7. Why finish on that note? Voters voting against their own best interest -
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 04:47 PM by KCabotDullesMarxIII
instead of the massive election fraud and voter suppression. You must know that if the election is stolen, it won't be because of the relatively tiny remaining number of voters voting against their best interest, but the massive election fraud.

9. We have 3 long weeks ahead of us. Obama needs to excel in the final debate
I have faith he will. That'll help get us through the this "hate-fest" that the rethugs are on. This is not time to get too cocky.

12. K & R Again!
So true - we ain't won shit - yet. Don't be fooled into thinking this thing is even close to over. The MSM and republicans will do everything in their power to make sure this thing is close enough to steal by Nov. 4th. Now is the time to down-shift and double our efforts. Knock on doors, make calls, offer rides to the polls, and donate all you can. Obama needs us all now more than ever before!

19. Wrong, We are working for the down ticket races
D trip said in June there were 75 house races in play, the number is now higher, 90 house seats and 10 to 15 in the senate.

We need to work to win by 20 pts.

THe race will not tighten up.
