This will be the sermon from now until the election. Airing right now on the Trinity Broadcasting Network, if you have the stomach for it.

8. This is the guy who was officially endorsing McCain earlier in the year
When a video got to You Tube of Hagee saying that God must have sent Hitler, because killing 6 million Jews caused the rest of them to return to Israel, therefore fulfilling Bible prophecy, even McCain was appalled.

So now Hagee is merely "unofficially" endorsing him, because "God says so", as he's no doubt about to tell us, once this horrible music is done.

And if anybody wonders why I subject myself to watching this shit.... this is exactly why. The Sunday before the election in 2004, every one of these televangelist shows delivered the same message "Vote for Kerry, and you're going to HELL!!1111!!!".

I guessed with McCrazy in trouble in the polls, they would have to start early this year.

And now he's pushing that God Damned "Obsession" DVD too??

5. If one voted according to the Sermon on the Mount or
according to Isaiah 58, then one is COMPELLED, absolutely COMPELLED to vote for Barack Obama. Will he be the perfect president for poor people? No, not by a long shot, but at least he's been the son of a single mother. He has seen other cultures up close and knows what it is to have to WORK for what you want.

So, yes, vote the bible but remember Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor.

Governor Palin's type of Christians would still crucify Jesus because he had a REVOLUTIONARY message of love thy neighbor as thyself and that which you do unto the least of them you have done to me.

If I, a JEW, can see that then why can't Christians?

11. Some of us Christians do
Those of us who actually DO read JC's teachings, and not fast forward through that to get to Paul's stuff. Or get stuck in Leviticus like Hagee.

15. That's how they got a loyal voting block, especially in the South.
When the Robertson/Falwell/Weyrich/Hagee/Dobson machine took over the Republican party, they had a built in base in the so-called "Bible Belt".

certainly more than anything remotely referencing homosexuality or abortion.

26. There's also the 8th Commandment
"Thou shall not bear false witness".

The Repubs have been doing that since 1992-and have raised to an art form this election.

14. Hagee needs to read the Bible as it speaks DIRECTLY about what he's trying to do.
For instance, "And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves<...>" (Matt 21:12) and “Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s” (Matt 22:21).

The Bible that Hagee is touting speaks out AGAINST such acts; as Christians we are told several times, in several books, that church is NOT where you preach the agenda of the government. I don't understand why parts of the Bible are harped on and others outright ignored by some people.

22. He explicitly said "NEVER vote for any PRO-ABORTION candidate"!11!!
And of course, all of those Devil loving Democrats are "babykillers", not that we're partisan or anything!

Wasn't McCain pro-choice at some point? And if so, shouldn't somebody tell Hagee?

20. Now would that be...
Would that be the Bible of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John?
Or would that be the Bible of the letters from Paul?
Or would that be the Bible of the Old Testament?

If it's the Gospels, I am voting the Bible. I'm voting for a man who wants to treat all his fellow men and women with care and respect. I'm voting for a man who wants to promote the greater good for all. You know, kinda like Jesus. And that man's name is Barack Obama.

Of course, that's not what Hagee meant. Hagee meant vote the bible as interpreted by Paul and continued to be interpreted by so-called "Christians" who overlook the teachings of Jesus and preach the interpretations of the teachings - allowing them to use passages from Paul as their excuse for bigotry, racism and sexism.

Jesus tried to teach compassion and working to benefit all. Paul, in most of his letters, completely twisted that to be divisive. Romans 1:26-32 is a prime example. In these verses, Paul completely abandons the idea of being compassionate like Christ instead choosing to trash people, including homosexuals, and then goes further to link anyone sympathetic to them as equally as bad.

27. A witness and an AMEN!
There's some parts of Paul's writing where he seems truly honest, like 1 Corinthians 13 which basically boils down to "if I say and do all these religious things, but don't have love, it ain't worth a shit" (my paraphrase, not Paul's) and another time (don't remember chapter and verse) where he talks about burying the "old man" and becoming entirely a "new creature in Christ". The "old man", in Paul's case, was a really hateful prejudiced guy, and while Paul does speak of the need to get rid of him, there are definitely a lot of his writings that show that he never truly did.

Now I'm not sitting in judgment of Paul, as he pointed out himself, it's a battle that every believer does with their own "old man". But maybe it's something that Hagee and his fellow members of the religious right need to take a serious look at, in context.

If Paul's teaching (or Hagee's) conflicts with what Jesus said, I'm going with JC. And if you go against JC, should you really call yourself a "Christian" ?
