And I imagine to those who hold to rigid, dogmatic stances worthy of Jim Jones, the Clinton's never will.

Party Unity My Ass seems to be alive and well. Yet it seems to be coming from the most obtuse angles these days...

But! If it makes you feel better, please feel free to call me a Clintonista. Despite the fact that I'm proudly voting for the good Senator from Illinois next month, I imagine you can salvage a bit of self-validation in doing so.

If 60% of American show up to vote for a presidential election it's a record...it'll never happen....more like 52% on a good election - perhaps 56% or so give or take this year, that means a little less than HALF of the American people don't & won't vote....

I have never miss voting in ANY elections since I've been eligible, certainly I never voted for a slimy ass republican, ever!

However, Americans don't want being informed to get in their way of having a good time and doing other things....which means only a handful of people saw Hillary's speech....what Hillary (and the Dems) have to hope for is that the networks might pick out a snippet here & there to air...the fucking networks I wouldn't count on it!

74. Thanks for posting.
I rather watch it on Youtube, still too many jerks in Huff spewing the usual hatred, same as in KOS. I avoid both blogs.

Sometimes it's too painful to watch her and see what the party threw away.

68. God, it makes me want to weep!!!!!!
What an awesome president the party let slip through their hands. We could have had 16 years of two great presidents. Both equally historical. Alas......

76. I wanted Clinton/Obama now and Obama/? in 8 years.
I felt that she was better prepared and ready to lead at this point in time. IMO, she had the better economic and healthcare plans. I still think so, but one can't always get in life what one wishes.

She is enormously talented, bright and experienced.

Here's to hoping Obama is willing to realize that.

88. I know. It's gratifying and sad at the same time.
Except for the few, most people see now what some of us saw all along.

I think Hillary will find some capacity to move this country forward, no matter what position she's in.

Like Tracy Lord in the Philadelphia Story, people always seem to want her 'humbled' and like her better that way. Fuck that shit.

109. Yeah, the media made a concerted effort to denigrate her
at every turn. I'll never forget the viciousness of their sexist attacks after the IA caucus and before the NH primary. They were brutal and on a personal basis, not on policy issues. They were so bad that several Republican women I know were all wishing me luck and hoping that she won in NH just to give a finger to the media.

The MSM were and still are a disgrace, particularly MSNBC. I stopped watching that sorry excuse of a news network months ago and I don't miss it one bit. They have bad ratings and they deserve it.

112. Misogynist attitudes are so ingrained in our society
that most people didn't even flinch when her voice was called "shrill", her laughter a "cackle" or the myriad other insults that were thrown her way.

Race definitely trumped gender during the primaries. Any little whiff of racism was loudly denounced, but no one cared about the sexist remarks. I still remember Dean (who had been very vocal about the race issue) stating, after receiving hundreds of complaints, that he had never realized that the sexism had been so prevalent because he "didn't watch cable TV". To which my answer is: BULLSHIT!!!

The MSM and certain people in the leadership of the party had decided that Obama should be the nominee and they would be damned if they were going to allow Hillary to get in their way.

Edited on Tue Oct-14-08 01:55 PM by chicagoexpat
and it was the media & the party who forced her to line up w/ right wing maggots and lend credence to the Republican attacks on Obama

they kept quoting her "sniper" story & her open appeals to "white backlash" -- how could they quote her? Why didn't they kist get on the bandwagon of the inevitable nominee, the inevitable president?

However I disagree...I think that person was Al Gore.
