Obama up in polls but still too many undecideds.
It's great that Obama is showing a 8-10 point leads in the polls right now. But they are all is the 50% to 41% area. So that means there is still a group of around 10% undecideds. I don't understand how anyone can be undecided at this stage, but hey maybe the Daily Show had it right :-D(they are basically idiots).
I am concerned that they could still break for McCain and make a difference in the key States.

1. Yes, we need more Democrats who are "concerned", "afraid", "nervous".
I agree, I don't understand how anybody is undecided at this point either, but on the news programs they find those who will proudly stand up and proclaim that they just cannot make up their minds between steak and baloney.

2. Out of those 10% undecideds, they are not all going to break for McCain.

3. well... undecideds would be a big deal....except...
Obama is above 50%...which means that even if every undecided went with McCain...Obama would still win. Since it beyond unlikely that McCain would get more than 2-1 undecideds...I think for now...we are a bit safe.

4. But Obama is already reaching the 50% threshold
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 12:02 PM by Quixote1818
What that means is if Obama now has 50% and McCain has 41% probably 4% will go to Obama 1% to other candidates and maybe 4% to McCain. Obama would win 54% to 45%. That would be a blowout.

16. But Obama has already reached 50% in most of the swing states

In Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, PA etc. Obama is blowing McCain out.

In Ohio, Florida, Nevada and Virginia he has already reached 50%. He is at 49% in New Mexico and Colorado.

6. Don't forget there are also third parties in many states
They may help or hurt up, but it may mean that the winner may not necessarily have over 50% of the vote

7. I think you have to allocate 3-5% for Barr, Nader etc.
I think that undecideds are only about 5-7% tops.

9. I bet a lot of those 'undecideds' won't vote.
If they can't decide by now they probably won't go to the voting booth.

10. I think there is a precentage of people....
...who when called by a pollster, claim to be "undecided" because they are too embarassed to admit that they don't know there's an election coming or who is running! I AM SERIOUS. I have done a lot of phone banking in many elections and believe me there are people who don't even know that there is a presidential election coming up. They'll show up at the bank or post office on Nov. 4 and wonder why they are closed.

12. Once these people open their 401k, start losing their jobs and...
getting thrown out of their homes, I don't think that many will break mcsame's way. The racist xenophobes always vote repub anyway. They've been on board since day one, so I don't think that racism is gonna be a big factor with the indies. We'll see.

15. My worry, too
I am disheartened that there are so many undecideds, but I think most of them will go to Barack. Hopefully they come out strong for him in the closing days before the election.

18. They can call you "concerned" but in all seriousness, I agree with you. I am very worried
And this is because I've been canvassing in VA and working very hard there on the ground. The so-called "undecideds" don't seem to want to hear anything about Obama. For the most part, I don't think they like McCoward enough to admit it, but they also don't like the black guy, either. But I do think that some of them lean-McCoward. It worries me and we should at least be concerned about it. It is simply unfathomable that there are *still* Undecideds.
