5. I believe that Hayduke would agree
but that kind of speech is frowned upon here to a great extent. I have long since been a fan of direct action.

9. It embarrasses me that anyone would post that kind of bigoted message,
First Amendment rights notwithstanding, because it reminds me (painfully so) that not eveyone in this country is on the same page on fundamental dignities afforded to every citizen.

It creeps me out, in the parlance of Home Room.

6. Irony
This person is trying to call him radical Muslim. Yet, radical Muslims think all abortion should be illegal, gays should be executed and that guns should be openly embraced by citizens for the "Holy War".

But that would be too intellectual for this fool.

8. The Township Where This Is Located Should Remove It!
This is not free speech, it's racism and should be removed (or the Obama image blacked out).

10. It might sound crazy-
But crap like this just makes me kind of smile. They know their time is coming to an end. No longer will the people that hate hold the reigns of power.

When all you have left is to die, the way you fall is the most important thing. They are even blowing that.

Bye Pugs, see ya in about 20 years.

24. Me too - the sign should not be "burned down" - It should be publicized as much as possible

...and every McCain supporter should be made to "own" this sign.

11. I tend to agree with many of the comments defending it
do I think the guy is a bigoted jackass?
yes

does it get me mad?
no

it will only appeal to low-information voters who were already jackasses themselves.

let them strut and posture
with any luck they'll all turn into butter*

I still have a campaign ad LBJ ran depicting Goldwater kicking a crutch out from under an elderly person.

If you can't stand the heat...

13. His name is Raymond Fine. I wonder if he owns the billboard or is renting.

...Raymond Fine, 74, of West Plains, said the sign is a form of free speech. "If they can burn a flag, then they can put a sign up like that," Fine told the News-Leader...

The four horsemen of the crazy right wing; abortion, Gays, taxes and guns. Top generously with racism. There has to be some physiological implications in all that. Damned if I can see anything but these people are out of their rabbit ass minds.

22. Welcome to the area of Southern MO where I have lived all my life.
I live in Springfield--- West Plains(home to the above despicable sign) is roughly 100 miles ESE.

The area around, more to the north and a bit east, of West Plains is known as the Irish Wilderness (a beautiful rugged country containing the Mark Twain National Forest, and the Current and Jacks Fork Rivers, which have some of the best canoing/floating in the US.) Many of the people, living there now, have ancestors from Appalachia. Yes, many of the same types of people that have been "problem voters" for Obama, in such places as the mountains of West Virginia, rural Pennsylvania, Tennessee, etc., are alive and well in Southern MO. The so-called "bitter," gun toting, bible thumper caricature is not always far off the mark---does the movie Deliverance come to mind?

In addition to that, Springfield is the headquarters for the Assemblies of God---the Palin Pentecostal tongue speakers.

These are just two of the reasons Southern MO is so RIght-Wing-Nutty.
It is really hard living as a flaming liberal, in the midst of such insanity and ignorance.

If we can get 40% Democratic vote out of this area, we will be doing better than most years. I think we will do better than that this year, and with a gigantic turnout in the major metro areas of St. Louis and KC, MO still may go blue.

27. I say let it stay! The ones who agree will vote GOP anyway!
Thinking people will see it for what it is, a racist attack - and will be offended! Read the comments at the article! Commenter's are offended and put off and that is good! This sign showcases the lack of good sense these bigots have! Pure ignorance!
