Speaker at McCain rally says non-Christians want an Obama win
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 07:24 AM by amyrose2712
From CNN Political Producer Tasha Diakides

DAVENPORT, Iowa (CNN) – A minister delivering the invocation at John McCain’s rally in Davenport, Iowa Saturday told the crowd non-Christian religions around the world were praying for Barack Obama to win the U.S. presidential election.

“There are millions of people around this world praying to their god—whether it’s Hindu, Buddha, Allah—that his opponent wins, for a variety of reasons. And Lord, I pray that you will guard your own reputation, because they’re going to think that their God is bigger than you, if that happens,” said Arnold Conrad, the former pastor of Grace Evangelical Free Church in Davenport.

The remark was made before McCain arrived at the rally but the Republican nominee's campaign quickly put out a statement distancing itself from the remarks.

This really pisses me off. I am not a Christian myself(and it has no place in Politics.) But, I am so damn tired of repigs thinking they are the only Christians around. There are plenty of democratic Christians. Just more vitriol from the right wing nutjobs!

2. This is typical McCain strategy now
Send someone else to deliver the hate message and then come in after the damage is done and put a band-aid on it. Damage done - Scar left.

5. A very small band-aid at that.
He never really says the right thing. "He's an arab" "he is a good family man" Here is just says not to bring religious background into it. Doesn't correct the lies that are still out there.

4. "My God is bigger than your God"
What an infantile understanding of faith this is. Simply pitiful.

Of course, their real problem is not the non-christians around the world, but the large number of christians here who will vote to make Barack our President.

6. I am a Christian and I am proudly voting for Obama!!
I always try to do the right thing and the right thing is Obama. Everyone in my family and circle of friends are voting for Obama and they are all Christians. I think you are totally correct when you say they should worry about the Christians who will vote for Obama. We care about our fellow Americans who are suffering and we plan to do something about it.

8. Well
I'm not a Christian (I'm a UU) and I'm positively and proactively voting for Obama. The fact that Barack and Joe ARE Christians has nothing to do with the job I think they'll do. ;-) Their CHRISTIAN faith has no bearing on their capability - and I will vote for them :-) in spite of their devotion to Pauline Theology.

I think there are many  people like me that see that Barack can separate his CHRISTIAN faith from his position and make impartial decisions that don't revolve around 'Faith Based Initiatives'.

I guess I'm trying ;-) to see why it would be a bad thing if NON-Christians like me can see that Barack isn't going to put his Mystical perspective of a human being named Yeshua/Jesus on those of us who believe Jesus was a man, born of a man and woman, and that he's not eqaul to the spirit/god.

:sarcasm:

10. As well as Democratic christians
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 07:50 AM by CJCRANE
he's forgetting that South America, Europe, Australia and sub-saharan Africa are predominantly Christian too (in fact he should know that Christianity is the largest religion in the world).

On edit: And of course polls show that the rest of the world favors Obama (meaning that the majority of Christians do too).

11. If I were a Christian, I certainly wouldn't want McCain as my symbolic leader.
He is not an agent of peace and harmony.

14. I am proudly a Lutheran and my husband is a choir director at church and we want Obama!
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 08:03 AM by Jennicut
Disgusting. Only the fake so called Christians would say this. If Jesus came to them now as an ordinary person begging them to join his church to help the poor and weak they would laugh at his face. They know nothing about being a real Christian. A real Christian also tolerates other points of view and does not spew hatred, the kind of hatred that killed Jesus to begin with. Dumbasses!
