I also find it interesting that we no longer hear of family
values. My husband is a republican. I asked him what family
values were and he couldn't answer me.If I were to define my
values, I'd quote the GOLDEN RULE.Can you imagine if most if
not everyone lived by this rule?

I've wrestled since childhood with this values contradiction. I first learned variations of the "Do unto others ..." rule. Seem right; wise even. Before I was 10, during my first regular job as a paperboy, the other Golden Rule, the evil golden rule, started to come into focus, "He (and almost always HE) with the gold MAKES the rules." It's like the shadow government of golden rules; enshrined by actor Michael Dougless's masterful performance as Gordon Gekko, in his Address to Teldar Paper Stockholders in "Wall Street" (1987), assuring us "Greed is Good!"
