We're witnessing the worst of humanity coming to the surface at these McCain/Palin rallies. And, in fact, I do believe that most of these people, while misguided politically, are actually decent and caring when they're not being whipped into a frenzy.


But what I think is most important for us, as liberals, is to take a lesson from this. We, too, as people, are not immune to the temptations of mass mentalities and mass hate. We don't do things the same way as these folks- I can't say I've ever heard a liberal yell out "KILL HIM!" with regard to someone they didn't like.

However, I do see the same tendency toward unreason in groups of liberals that we are seeing here- sometimes even on DU. Metaphorical pile-ons and lynchings...

That tendency is the worst of humanity and it's the responsibility of every one of us to maintain a proper sense of justice at all times.

In fact, I believe that the day, as a people, we realize that individual responsibility the world will become an amazingly better place to live in.

A Republican Mob not only has the madness of crowds that mobs suffer from, but their entire world view is already so screwed and skewed as Republicans, that the synergetic result makes it utter madness. And even more dangerous.

My point is that this is an issue all people must recognize because it's part of the human psyche, I believe a vestige of our ancestry. But, in that sense, there are no political groups that are incapable of behaving like this.
