We were nervous, but my husband & I volunteered for the first time last night in Va

to make phone calls to voters. We had an absolute blast! Of course most people let their answering machines pick up, but the callers we did connect with tended to support Obama over McCain.

The Obama supporters definitely wanted to chat and were emphatic about their selection. I had one older gentleman tell me he was voting for Barack, and his friends were too, because they see what a sad state the country is in. This is pretty encouraging because I live in a small town with a lot of retirees, who would typically vote Republican. I even got several people to volunteer when I told them this was my very first time volunteering for a campaign, and my first night calling. They were like "heck, I can do that."

So, I encourage everyone to give a little time. It is well worth it, and hopefully will pay off come November.

10. She inspired me - I'm going to phone bank this weekend. I'm also a little nervous.

I helped some of my friends and neighbors to register to vote. Now I'm charging up my c-phone & going to a phone bank party this weekend.

2. my wife and i have been registering voters. door t o door.

it has been one of the most positive experiences of our lives. we are in lawton oklahoma, the bible belt buckle, but most people you talk to are for obama. the "polls" here show mcshame with an insurmountabe lead, but i don't know that i accept that.

I have spent a little time doing data entry for my local Obama field office. It's great to 1) connect with like-minded folks and 2) see the results of the phone and walking efforts when I'm marking so many "1 - Strong Obama" responses. :D
