Scary thought about voter fraud

Many of believe there have been cases of vote manipulation - not just preventing classes of people from voting but also fiddling with the results on these paper-trail-free machines.

It's possible that - if it happened - manipulation threw the vote to Bush in prior elections.

Here's the thought - instead of manipulating the election to toss it to McCain, which would undoubtedly result in investigation (one hopes), since they think Obama will win handily, that they manipulate some of the boxes to throw even MORE votes to Obama.

Then, after he wins, they say "oh, he couldn't have won by that much" and they "investigate" the vote tallies only to find them thoroughly out of whack.

Whereupon they accuse Obama of voter fraud, they have the data to "prove" it, and the election is declared invalid.

Tell me this isn't a possibility. It's positively Rovian, and I can easily visualize it. They won't give up power easily, and already they're making noises about Obama committing voter fraud and/or making preparations for the same. I think they're laying the groundwork, and I don't like the direction this could go.
