Registered voters in county pass 190,000 (Greene Co MO - Springfield)

Greene County Clerk Richard Struckhoff described Wednesday -- the last day to register to vote in Greene County -- as "absolutely nuts."

More than 8,000 new voters have registered since July, and roughly 46 percent of those were between the ages of 18 and 24, he said.

Newly registered voters combined with the existing voters brings the total to more than 190,000, he said.

According to the Missouri Secretary of State's Office, 4,660,188 registered to vote statewide as of last week.
