Bumpersticker and Button demand really picked up this week.
Latest was yesterday when I drove my car through emissions check. All the people at Department of Environmental Quality wanted buttons and bumperstickers, so I loaded them up. Sadly, my old Volvo failed emissions (I know I suck, but at least I usually take the bus, ride my bicycle, or walk. We're going to see how the hybrid models look next year, then we'll buy one of those and kiss the old Swedish Brick goodbye).

So I get home from DEQ, set the parking break, unbuckle my seatbelt, grab my briefcase, start to open the door and am startled to see one of the young women who shares a house kitty-corner from mine standing right outside my car door staring at me. She is unusually animated. I get out of my car and say, "Hi, how are you?"

She says, "I need some pins and bumperstickers! Kerry's gotta win this year! I can't believe that Cheney dissed his own daughter!" She and her partner seem to have awaken to politics this year and they don't at all like what they see. They don't like FMA, they hate Oregon Amendment 36, and they hate Bush/Cheney.
