Palin Meets Resistance Among Clinton Backers
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122341711146712845.html?mod=rss_Journal_Women

Sen. John McCain may share the Republican ticket with the party's first female vice presidential nominee, but Gov. Sarah Palin hasn't widely won over disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters. Some say the Alaska governor is having the opposite effect: driving them to back Democratic nominee Barack Obama.

Such voters cite a variety of reasons, from policy differences to speaking style. Sarah Nightingale, a 56-year-old wellness coach, said she liked Sen. Clinton because of her detailed policy speeches. She says she hasn't heard that level of specificity from Gov. Palin, which has solidified her support for Sen. Obama. "If McCain was trying to win me over as a Hillary supporter, he picked the wrong woman," Ms. Nightingale said.

(snip)

For a while, it seemed like Gov. Palin's compelling personal story -- a working mother of five and a self-proclaimed "hockey mom" -- would attract many of the 18 million voters who had supported Sen. Clinton. But recent surveys of women voters and interviews with Clinton supporters suggest that the Alaska governor has not attracted an outpouring of support among female voters.

(snip)
Retired teacher Carolyn Hill, 68, said she finds the implication that women would vote for a candidate because of her gender insulting. "Does McCain think we're just a bunch of airheads?" she said. "I'm looking for some substance and someone who agrees with me on issues."

1. Serves McCain right for thinking that just any ol' "c*nt" would do.
Shame on him for passing up better qualified and more respected women in the Republican party.

I'm glad that he's going to lose, but I'm sick about how far back his campaign has set the women's movement with the Palin pick.

2. Sarah Palin is an insult to women and to Senator Clinton.
Hillary has inspired my admiration and respect. She continues to astonish me. She is illustrates class and intelligence. Any comparison with Ms. Palin, beyond body parts, is ludicrous.

4. Palin isn't qualified to shine Clinton's shoes.
Anyone who truly supported Senator Clinton's bid for the nomination could not possibly find anything, other than sex, that puts the two in the same ballpark. This does not surprise me at all.

Thanks for posting it.

8. i completely agree. I didn't want Clinton for president, but she is like the second coming
compared to Palin.

Palin is lower than worm dung and is the anathema to feminism.

7. I supported Senator Clinton during the primaries, not just because she was
a woman, but because I felt she was a person who was qualified for the office of President. It was not her gender or personality that appealed to me as much as her intellect and experience. When Senator Obama won the nomination I did what I said I would do from the very beginning, which was to support the Democratic nominee. John McCain totally misread the majority of women, and men, who supported Hillary when he chose Gov. Palin. She is a poor substitute.

9. sarah palin is an insult to humanity and
specifically to the women voters mccain thought he could entice with a sublevel female of the species.

palin is a warmongering liar who thinks it's cool to kill wolves from airplanes and polar bears shouldn't be on the endangered species list.

She's also under investigation for abuse of her power in Alaska..who'd a thunk it?
