C'mon Philadelphia freeze her out: Palin to drop puck at Flyers game
Edited on Wed Oct-08-08 05:36 PM by BurgherHoldtheLies
Palin to drop puck at Flyers game

Sarah Palin, the self-proclaimed "Hockey Mom," will take to the ice this Saturday night, dropping the puck at the Philadelphia Flyers NHL opener against their rival New York Rangers, campaign aides confirm.

The move reflects the campaign's savvy about where to reach key voters in the Keystone State, but also their determination to flip Pennsylvania, one of the few remaining blue states in reach for the GOP.

The Flyers will present all "Hockey Moms' who come to teh game with "puck-er peach lipstick" and tickets to a minor league game. The team, clearly taking advantage of the boost Palin has offered the sport, has been holding an online contest to find "the ultimate hockey mom in the Greater Philadelphia Region

There is some risk, though, in sending Palin to the Flyers game. Hockey fans, especially in Philly, are not known for their manners. Palin will certainly receive a mix of boos and cheers upon being introduced.

McCain's campaign is aware that Philly fans once booed Santa Claus, Right? This should be fun to watch.

Hope those hockey fans tell her to "Get the puck outta Pennsylvania"

Leave my hockey team out of this. This isn't pee wee middle America living through your kids stuff, its big city living through professional athletes stuff.

Posted By: Go fightins! | October 08, 2008 at 05:59 PM

She is going to get mauled. Philly isn't some minor league hockey town deep in coal country. She will get booed and heckled.

Pittsburghers will be watching...make PA proud and boo Caribou Barbie out of the arena.

9. Wings fans wouldn't waste their octopi on her.
I remember Eagles fans pelting someone with batteries a while back.

Philly fans are clever, I'm sure they'll come up with something good.

She must be a masochist or something.

Or the campaign is just unspeakably cruel.

15,000 people booing. The Delay to get into the game because of the Secret Service is going to piss people off from the start.

11. Any chance we could get the "Hammer" or "Clarkie" back for one night to do some damage?
Clarkie could maybe give her a 2-hander across the ankles and Schultzie could take over from there?

34. No shit?
If you don't mind my asking, what's his name. I follow them pretty closely as well. Maybe he'll make the big team during the year.

I miss that era a lot, too. But I will say that I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I like the game since the strike and the rule changes. I dreaded every single change, but they've worked out well and the game has opened up and the stars can finally play again without being tackled.

But I'd still take an O'Reilly/Williams fight any day. :)

37. Oh wow, that's cool.
The B's web page did an article on him early in camp.

The Bruins think that Marquardt does a lot of things well.

“If you are going to talk about someone who’s been a pleasant surprise, it’s been Matt Marquardt,” said Bruins head coach Claude Julien following Tuesday morning’s skate.

“First of all, he’s one of those guys who came into camp in extremely good shape and he’s made some immense progress since the development camp. He’s got unbelievable hands, he can shoot the puck and he’s got good size.

“He competes and he battles hard,” continued Julien. “We need him to work on his skating a little bit, and (get) some quick feet, and if he can improve that he’s going to play in the NHL.”

14. Wow McCain's Campaign really is that stupid. Bad idea for 4 reasons
1) Philadelphia is a union democratic town. 50% of the people at the game will be Union and of that 66% will be solidly Obama.
2) The Secret Service will now need to screen everyone on opening night. The non-partisan don't give a fuck types are going to be pissed because it takes them an extra 45 minutes to get into the game.
3) Obama is in town that day and will steal any press coverage she gets if it is positive.
4) Philadelphia booed Santa Clause. We have a history of booing people from the far North.

15. I have some good Dem friends in Philly
Why is Mooselini spending so much time there making them miserable? What did Philly do to deserve her?

My guess, knowing something about the town and its rabid fans, is that she'll get booed off the ice.

This is pretty amazing to be quite honest. Philly fans are some of the best, don't get me wrong, but they are amazingly vocal and really don't give a damn who they offend.

This should be *really* interesting. I can't wait to see this backfire as I'm sure it will.

This is three full days spent in an area they are never, never going to win in the past two weeks.

Gotta pull of the tin foil hat because this is freaking me out.

What was it that I remember the morning of the election 2004 with Bush and Cheney meeting with the Sec. of State in an airport hangar.....or am I mixing that up Ohio??

This makes no apparent sense and so I smell a rat of some sort.
