Dallas' repuke owned Belo newspaper. They will find some way to manipulate/word the headline on Nov 5th: "Obama wins by a landslide". I was wondering if they would FINALLY break down and endorse a Dem in a prez election year. Guess this answers my question:
http://trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/10/laura-bush-on-palin-a-tough-we.htmlFirst lady Laura Bush said Wednesday that Sarah Palin is getting roughed up by the media but called her a "really tough Western woman" who can take it. "All is fair in love and war. And I guess politics is part of that,'' Mrs. Bush told FOX News' Greta Van Susteren.
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/editorials/stories/DN-debate_08edi.State.Edition1.3d3caad.htmlBoth candidates could have offered more, but Mr. McCain was more specific. He even conceded that Congress can't keep paying benefits at the same rates as for today's retirees. Few candidates would admit that.
Mr. Obama largely sidestepped entitlements when asked to rank them with energy and health care on his personal priority scale.
Overall, though, it's quite possible many voters pulled a George H.W. Bush and glanced at their watches during this mostly rehash of a debate. Then again, it's probably better that we didn't get a Sportatorium-style brawl, as Mr. McCain resisted suggestions that he would take the gloves off on character issues.
With polls favoring Mr. Obama, Mr. McCain failed to land a big punch. He does have a winning argument about taxing and spending but must do more to make it, with little time to do so.
