Still Undecided? Photo(shop)
Edited on Wed Oct-08-08 12:46 PM by demdog78
It's really quite simple. Those who say they there is just something about Obama they can't quite figure out. Some mysterious reason they don't want to vote for them. This is how I see it, this is what I think many of them feel.

Edit:

Do with this what you want, or do nothing at all with it.

I am NOT saying that everyone who is undecided about Obama is a racist. This is a simple commentary on those who may be. And I'll leave it at that.

Most people would take offense at the claim that they're only undecided because they're racist, and they're likely to only think of you (and by extension, Obama) as petty race-baiters.

And me? I'm a white man who wants to see an AA man become the president; not because he is AA, but because he is the best person for the job.

Period.

6. What a great way to drive away potential voters
Call them RACISTS........~THAT~ will sure bring them to our side.

As someone who was called a racist here numerous times during the primary for supporting a different Democrat, I'd advise you against this. All you would do is push an undecided voter directly into McCain's camp.

44. All I can say is that I have...
a relative who was going to vote for McCain because he didn't want to vote for a n*****. I called him out on it. And now can happily say that he is going to vote for Obama.

That has been my experience. So for me, it has worked.
For you, it may not.

But once again, you cannot deny the truth in the message. There are many people out there, who if Obama was 100% white would be voting for him, but because he is 50% black are not.

That is a fact. This is my artistic expression of how I see it.

37. You cannot be sure that every particular undecided voter is racist.
Edited on Wed Oct-08-08 12:36 PM by Occam Bandage
Some, for instance, value experience above all, but are uneasy about McCain's policies. Others vote on character, and see what they think are two largely honorable men doing what they think is right. Others are reluctant to vote Republican due to the past eight years of failure, but are reflexively concerned about tax hikes and left-wing government. Calling any of these people "racist" only moves them further towards McCain's camp.

59. It is open to interpretation. That is how you interpret it.
That is the great thing about "art" even at the most basic level.

However, when you want to know the real meaning, it is best to ask the "artist" to see if YOUR interpretation is accurate.

As I said, I have updated the text in the OP to better explain this.

46. "There's something about him" is way, way too broad, and all those people
might say that as why they weren't committed to voting for him. After all, many people reflexively distrust honeyed words coming from a relatively unknown figure (for good reason), and "there's something about him" is a common way of putting that fundamental "I don't know if I can fully trust him" feeling. Many people said that about Edwards in '04, as I recall; I doubt they were racist.

I think your heart is in the right place but your are incredibly misguided.

Attitudes like yours would have driven me away from the election, and frankly almost did, months ago. Being bashed with the racist label does NOTHING to bring people to your side. The only reason I am supporting Obama now is because my hatred of the repukes kept me in the game long enough to realize that Obama is nothing like his more zealous supporters.

Try talking to people, educating them, instead of driving them away with a labels that will forever drive a wedge between you and whomever you were trying to reach.

22.  "There is just something about him"...
... doesn't necessarily have to mean race.

It could be resentment of Obama's intellect. His having gone to good schools without the "rich" pedigree. His charisma. His eloquence.

I am curious how much envy plays a part. I've been envious of charismatic people before-- envious, especially, of their ability to get things done without having to take time-consuming extra work of convincing people and explaining themselves.

The tactic of cutting those down you envy is older than... well, McCain. ;-)

73. Sarah Palin could say that she's not been race baiting

in her appearances the last few days using the exact same logic you are using in your responses to replies in this thread, "but I didn't SAY that". Whatever words you use are do not use are muted in the roaring insinuation of the graphic.

Even here, in this crowd where you are preaching to the choir MOST find it disturbing ... and offensive. If you are wise you'll heed that warning. You'll piss off far more people than you will convert with that approach, people that MIGHT have been swayed.

What do you suppose Obama would think of this approach? Then consider if he might not be a just bit more politically astute than any of us before you go viral with this. Please just think about it.

75. I made a statement.
I stick by it. The message may not have been shown with the most tact, but it is still what I believe.

I explained exactly what it meant, and will not apologize for it.
