2. A form letter response with your concern
"inserted here". Lame is right.

Maybe if there was a share holder backlash, they would issue a public statement.

4. no disavowal?
their form letter said that they had nothing to do with it. Of course it was non committal, they don;t want to anger either side. they simply stated the fact that they don't make them.

10. The pimps who were distributing them
at the RNC apparently made them on their own, or had someone make them.

J&J didn't do it.

I had sent them an email asking them to take action against this immoral use of their product and pointed out media sources referring to them as "Purple Heart Band-Aids" -- not bandages.

But I guess they don't give a shit -- either that or they secretly approve of them.

11. J & J can't do anything about it though...
What are they supposed to do? What can they do? The legal answer is nothing. They got caught up in something shitty but they are in NO WAY to blame for this. Media sources were referring to them as "Band-aids" much the same way facial tissues are commonly referred to as "Kleenex" even though that is the incorrect way of referring to them because Kleenex is a brand not the product itself. It stinks but J & J have no legal leg to stand on to stop this.

9. J&J are whores
I do not know if they made those purple hearts but i do know that NOBODY is allowed to use the Red Cross to sell ANYTHING.
See the Geneva Conventions and US federal law.
Whenever J&J is asked about it,
they say that they were using it before there was a Red Cross
which is really strange considering that
J&J didn't get started until around 1886
and the Red Cross was underway in 1864.

Whores and Bastards.
Them and the US version of the Red Cross.
The American Red Cross is a bunch of pigs.
Not the grunts, but the top brass coming all the way down. Its like Enron, where the janitor was clean but the company most certainly was not. The ARC head honchos are appointed by the US pres and the only thing they seem to care about is dismantling the ENTIRE GLOBAL RED CROSS organization because it has proved impossible to get everyone in the world to accept the Israeli red star (Maden David Adom) as legitimate.
Mind you, it is not as if certain people have not been caught bombing Red Cross warehouses, firing at ambulances, sneering at Geneva Conventions and refusing Red Cross workers access to the wounded.

J&J is in this category.
One of the meanest companies on earth.
Nastier than Dick Cheney and Zell Miller rolled into one.

12. Johnson & Johnson did not make the purple heart band-aids and RNC.
They were handmade with someone with a magic marker applying a purple heart to any kind of band-aid which could have been a generic brand, Curad or any of the other manufacturers of what has become known as a "band-aid."

If you or I draw on a band-aid something that's offensive it isn't J&J's job to find out if they were the true manufacturer of the band-aid or to
send a lawyer after the purson who drew the purple hearts unless the person claimed J&J was sponsoring the person drawing the hearts and the person was selling them claiming the profits were going to J&J.

It's fine for folks to e-mail them about this...but don't complain for them sending you a form letter back. At least they answered! Which media ever answers back all the complaints we DU'ers send complaining about their program content?
